Can anyone point me in the direction of a forum/site where people know what they are doing on car modifications tuning etc thanks.
 
Any specific vehicle/engine you're looking for info on? You'll be better off looking for a dedicated manufacturer forum, as it's obviously a very broad topic.
 
Ok if you guys redirect me to hear also im wanting to give my 1.6 a few mods mainly sound id like it to sound abit deeper and abit louder nothing over the top what can you do for me? btw im a complete newbie when it comes to cars are all the 1.6 306's 8valve?
 
Due to the size of the engine it isnt really worth doing any "serious" mods. Id stick on a new back box with 4" tailpipe and an induction kit. That'll get you a nice noise and maybe 1 or 2 bhp.

Stick some nice 17s on it too or some GTI-6 "cyclone" wheels and lower it a tad.

I love the 306 shape, especially that rear end!!

Pretty sure all the 1.6s are 8 valves yes. My 306XS (1995 N Plate) was a 1.6 8 valve.
 
Ok and one more question i am insured with CIS they dont actually ask at anypoint during buying / quoting on motor insurance so will any mods invalidate my insurance? or if i tell them about these modifications will they be ok with it? sorry i know all insurance people are different so hoping anyone with abit of exp could answer.
 
When i was with cis they would cover anything (that didn't give you a BHP gain) for free, so wheels / body kits and the such.

Everything else they will charge for, and yes you need to tell them.
