Car paranoid wife?

My partner is car blind, literally can't even tell me what colour a car is/was if she's not in front of it. She also won't learn to drive :o

I ain't married, does that make me the bad guy in this setup?
It depends, what have you been doing to all these chaps' wives' cars when they visit?

Womans car?
Wallowing badly... Check tyre pressure.
Knocking sounds? Check glove box and boot and under seats for a load of junk rattling about.

Yea that's another thing.

She's pretty fussy about the state of the house, not quite show home but not far off.

Her car on the other hand is a complete **** tip, junk everywhere.

I'm on the side of preferring to know if something's a bit off, rather than find out it's completely wrecked a month later.

Mind you, it's her car so by and large I don't get involved with it.

Get your nuts tightened.

Also check on the car if pressures and wheel nuts are on securely and the condition of the tyres.

Herself noticed when she had a flat tyre, but the kerb she hit when she was almost forced off the road was a big clue.

Her car (2008 Megane with 150K miles on it) rattles like 2 amorous skeletons in a tin bath and a clutch that bites in the last 1/4 of travel, but she knows when something makes a new or different noise or handles differently.

Labrador in back usually makes some noise ... but - enough said

I sympathise with your wife :o I’m definitely the motoring hypochondriac in the relationship. I’m always right about the tracking being out though.

To be fair it's not just women... Years ago young lad across the road asked me to look at a warning light on his parents car... He'd been using it as his parents were away on an extended holiday.

It was his oil pressure warning light.

How longs that been on? I asked... "couple of weeks" was the reply.

Face-palm.
Luckily it was just very low on oil but not low enough to wreck the engine.

Edit... I also know a guy who refuses to service thier cars as it's a waste of money and 'unnecessary'...
Yet wonders why he struggles to get a decent price when selling or trading in!

Some people are beyond help!

I know of a couple (through a friend) who don't service their cars after the 3-year warranty has expired. They say it's only so the dealer can make money off you and once the warranty is up there's no need.

I can understand wanting to avoid main dealer service costs, but there's a happy medium - indie garage and a basic oil & filter change once a year or whatevs, and then look at the service requirements for the car so you don't miss things like cam belts and gear box oil or whatever...

Nah, they do nothing at all after the warranty is up apparently. I don't know them personally though so it could be Chinese whispers.

This all sounds very familiar! Although the last time, there was actually an issue as a warning light came on a week or so later and I had to replace the VANOS solenoids.

I don't have to put up with stuff like this as my wife doesn't drive, apart from me around the bend!! It's just as well she doesn't drive as she's a disaster zone. If there's a hair on the floor she will trip over it, if there's a mug you particularly like she will break it, don't even get me started on the remains of our crockery!!
