I was driving to find a space today and a lady reversed into the side of my car. I didn't call my insurance as the car is under warranty and came with a leaflet (details below)from Suzuki about calling them if you are in an accident. So i did that and they took all the usual details and i've had to fill out a form and send off some images of the damage.

They said they will contact my insurance on my behalf. Thing is , they offered me a hire car and i said no and they persuaded me until i said yes. I was intrigued as to why they wanted me to say yes so much and after a google it appears that they will hire me a car on credit at extortionate costs and will then claim the money from the third party. However if they refuse to admit liability those charges will be on you. I wfh so i don't urgently need a car fortunately so i will be informing them of this next time i talk to them. Apparently they can refuse to help me if i say no to the hire car and if thats the case and i haven't informed insurance myself they may turn around and say why didn't you contact us ASAP. I'm a bit confused on what to do. I've had a text in the last hour from the third party insurer admitting liability so thats good.

The damage doesn't seem too bad but i don't have a clue about this kind of thing, is anyone able to estimate if it would be a big repair job? Is there a possibility of write off?

Yeah contact your insurer and call Suzuki and tell them you want to ancel the higher car.

As it's all been done over the phone you should be covered by distance selling rules.

Don't back down. The damage isn't that bad and if the insurance company fix it they will give you a hire car (if it's on your policy) or the body shop might give you a hire car.

As others have said call your insurance, then call Suzuki and tell them where to stick their money maker.
How those agreements are still legal I don't know.

But suzuki said they will handle the insurance for me and said not to contact them. All seems a bit odd to me.

Because it makes them an obscene amount of money out of either you or the other parties insurance... unfortunately the other parties insurance will know all about this little setup and won't just roll over when they get the bill

if you look at the details of the company providing the suzuki service ... it's not necessarily a group of ambulance chasers

just need to check that any expenses they incur would be satisfactory to 3rd party insurance ...
other than that if they are providing an integrated warranty and accident repair service you maybe benefitting from something that suzuki payed for that was part of the purchase price of the car.

Had so many near misses from people reversing without looking in recent years. I think people have lost the ability to reverse properly, or a are relying on reversing sensors/cameras :/

Looks like a third generation swift? The lowest priced earlier ones seem to fetch about £4000. I doubt it would be written off for that but it depends. Some approved repairers may quote you for two new entire doors and possible minor sill damage (can't tell from the pic). Depending on the level of repair (i.e. if they provide full doors with all the trim exterior and interior) plus paint and blending and labour. It wouldn't surprise me to see a quote for a couple of grand for that. Unfortunately that's just how it is in the insurance world even though Dave down the road could repair that with filler for a few hundred quid. Just preparing you op. We had a similar thread recently. Actually I wonder what happened with the other dude...

Thats ok i won’t be paying the third party insurance will be. Not sure what generation it is, its 2020 reg.
Thanks for the info

Called my insurance today who have referred me to a garage to fix the damage next week. I've emailed accident management company saying i don't want to move forward with them.

I haven't signed any contract with them so assuming no issue there.

For the record, not talking to Suzuki. You are talking to a claims management company.

They will charge the third party insurer a small fortune. Suzuki will get a nice kick back.

Good man.
