Well I got back from a quick shopping trip to find some inconsiderate [insert profanity of your choice here] parked like this -

There was no way I could get in the drivers side so I didn't even try and jumped in the passengers side and climbed across. In hindsight I should have checked the drivers side over because this was sat nicely on the door...

I know it could be worse, and I know I'm intending to get the back end resprayed in 2 months anyway, but that's really not the point. Why do people do things like this? :(

Because they are inconsiderate morons who's attitude tends to be "So what, its not like it effects the way you car drives is it "

I feel your pain though, I've half given up worrying about mine now as my tin foil bodywork has so many dings in it :(

becasue people have no respect, i had a similar thing recently at the gym, 2 cars decied to park like that on both sides. Luckily my car looks like a shed so i wasn't too bothered But i had to push my door as hard as i could into his just to get in. Don't think i did any damage (it was on a bump strip) but if he did he got what he deserved.

I'm starting to wish I'd tried getting in the drivers side, could have given him a taste of his own medicine :p

It looks like you could probably just about squeeze yourself in there. Sadly UK parking spaces are commonly very narrow.

Nah, the door's pretty thick and the cars fairly low. Plus I'm not the skinniest guy in the world :D

Well I managed to survive 2.5 years with no dings but one finally appeared a few weeks back on the near side rear quarter.

I still swear that, if I ever return to my car and find damage that's blatantly been caused by the vehicle parked next to it, I will key it or kick a panel in. People who have no respect for others' property is one of my biggest hates and frankly I think an "eye for an eye" is the only language they're likely to understand.

How about waiting until the person comes back. What if the car that done it had driven off and new one took its place. You may well of kicked in a panel of a car that didn't do a thing to yours.

Thats fine if you've got all day to sit around in a car park waiting for someone, just to be told "**** off, prove it" Personally I'm with Vertigo but I would have to be 110% sure.

Infact I have done it. I saw someone hit my car then drive off and park elsewhere. I confronted them and got told I couldn't prove it so there was nothing I could do about it. She was wrong because even without proof her wing mirrow was still capable of coming clean off her car. Was it a clever thing to do? Of course not but it made me feel better :) Would I do it again? I'd like to think not but in the heat of the moment I don't know :o

Only to find they don't give a toss, which is highly likely or they'd have left a note already.

Read my post again, I said damage that's blatantly been caused by the vehicle parked next to it. In other words, if there's no doubt at all that the other vehicle is responsible. If there was any doubt then of course I wouldn't risk damaging an innocent person's car.

It was most definitely the mondeo that caused the damage to my car. There was nothing parked next to me when I left and I was only gone around 10-15 minutes. And looking at how good his parking skills are I'd say it was pretty obvious anyway.

But unless you physically saw the damage being caused you cannot be 100% sure.
I've pulled into a car parking space for a minute to take a phone call before.
I've stopped in a space for just a short period of time to maybe change a CD over - I could have damaged a car and driven off in minutes and then for somebody else to park in my space and get his car damaged because of something I did.

What you describe is indicative of who caused the damage but is far from being certain.

Good to see someone else agrees with me.

Slight bit of difference between accidental and deliberate damage though...

I can understand this but

Accidental - If the person has any respect for other peoples property then they would leave a note on the car with a phone number..i would! Obviously this person may not have done it deliberatly but by not leaving a note or doing anything about it then they show a lack of respect for other peoples stuff, unless of course they had gone in the shop to get a pen and paper and come back to find you gone but a big dent in their door :(

NS

If I knew for sure that the vehicle next to me had caused the damage (Paint match, door line-up etc) then I would happily "accidentally" cause the same damage that he caused my car back to his one.

Edit: Of course you could wait for him to come back then punch him in the face, spray him with pepper spray, stab him with a knife then hit him with an extendable baton. (Sorry I had forgotton myself for a minute!) :D :p
