Car parked on double yellows, and someone hits me. Where do i stand?

You parked on yellows, its your own fault.
You are wrong.
The driver may be disabled & showing a disabled badge ? Or the person is Legally unloading or loading his vehicle.
You shouldn't really comment when you don't know the Law.

To put this to bed, All drivers are responsible for driving there own vehicle, How anybody can say that it's Ok to drive into a parked car no matter where it is parked is beyond me.

Two separate issues here - you could be held accountable for parking on double yellows, but as mentioned above, the practicalities of proving you were parked as opposed to the definition of "unloading" means that is never going anywhere. The relevant fact is that your vehicle was stationary, so by default the error is with the other driver. Add to that the fact that he failed to exchange details, and I'd expect this to be very much on your side!

Double yellow is of no relevance.

I could have made an emergency stop anywhere, on the M5 if I had to, and if the car behind me hit me, it will be their fault.

The truck driver's insurance company will admit liability, however your car might be a write off due to economics.

People that park on double yellows are always those type of people that don't give a damn about anyone else. Im not surprised this happened at all.

So your saying you have never parked on double yellows to get cash out or something? Baring in mind your not blocking anyones area to drive, and my photo clearly shows there is no blind spot or obstruction to any driver. That isn't unreasonable and if you think that's the case then maybe your one of those unreasonable drivers who would reverse into somebodys else property without thinking?

I wasn't being inconsiderate to any potential driver that morning.

If you are going to have a go at someone, at least do it in proper English to stop yourself from looking like a tool ;)

And I don't know why people think they will get some kind of "points" for being the first one to say the buzzwords like "troll" or what not..

Miss! Miss! Personal attack.

I wasn't 'having a go' it was a genuine question because it has to be one of the daftest threads in a very long time

Without reading through the whole thread, if you were parked and not moving (even on Double Yellows) and he/she hit you, it's his/her fault.

100%.

It's the other driver's fault. But please, for the sake of not being a selfish and lazy git, stop parking like a pleb!
