Car refuses to start!

Not to be the prophet of doom but it looks like you may need a new engine.

Speaking from a couple of previous experiences it is rarely worth rebuilding the top end as quite often the main bearings are damaged in the impact. This means the bottom end may go shortly after repair.

Not worth the risk TBH.

Its an 8v 1.2 lump. Snapping a belt is the least of his worries. New belt fitted off he goes tbh. the 8v will be non interference.
I think the 1.2 8v is interference. Both my supervisors in my last job drove 1.2 Clio Mk1's and both snapped cambelts (never changed!)

Both engines were damaged beyond economical repair, 8 valves gone. 1 scrapped the car and the other had a new engine fitted.

in which case, let me be the first to say "ooff"

Talking to a mechanic friend of mine and he says the engines as good as buried!
