Since having a nice smash in february I feel ill and my stomach turns on itself every time I get into a car with some one else driving. No matter how good they are or how fast or slow i just feel sick. Also I tense up over the littlest amount of braking. I know i shouldnt but I do..

Any tips to sort this out ?

Also I smashed the car so i dont know why its only when others are driving!

I'm like that too unfortunately, had a crash 4 years ago and it seems to get worse everytime I get in a car.

I am fine when driving however.

I just never, ever take passenger rides from anyone except my parents.

No idea why, just can't do it. ALWAYS offer to drive, even when it sometimes leaves me out of pocket as I never let the favour be returned!

ah well at least im not alone, weirdest feeling ever.. never used to care who drove me..

Same here, never used to bother me till I passed my test but now that I've driven ~20k miles in 9 months on my own I get really travel sick when anyone else is driving :(

Shame really, come round the 'Ring with me ;) Promise i'll go slow..

I love to drive, but also don't mind being a passenger, mainly with people that i can trust, the 'ring lot and a few others.

So thats why you were clinging on the handle for dear life when I was driving you around.. :D

I also get carsick when anyone but me is driving. I'm ok on motorways at a constant speed, but anything else and I just start to feel queasy.

It's simple, you don't feel ill when driving because you aren't sitting there thinking about how ill you're going to feel in a few minutes

Also when you are driving you are fully aware of the corners coming up and expect them. As a passenger you tend not to pay as much attention and as such can be made to feel queezy. I defo wouldn't sit in the back if you get like this.

Sit up front and pay attention to the road. Most of this is entirely in your mind.

The thing is i do take notice and i see how close we get and i think WERE GOING TO DIE even if there is tons of room.

If i sit in the back its not as bad as i can look sideways and not take notice out front.. but the boys car seats are in the back..

Guess im resigned to do all the family driving :(

If i'm a passenger I find myself just looking out of the passenger windows rather than the windscreen, does take my mind off things. However when my GF is driving I tend to be shouting to her about everything that might/could happen whilst driving.

God dammit

When my girlfriend drives it must give me a stomach upset because I'm always crapping my pants.

I've started getting this recently too. Never got travelsick when I was a kid, but in the last year I've started feeling ill when I'm a passenger. Its even worse when I'm in a back seat.

I know where you're coming from mate!

Even when I started to drive as a learner then went into my dads car with him driving it would make me feel uneasy because we drive slightly differently.

And also when I had a smash I felt uneasy getting into other peoples cars (still do). I don't feel like this all the time though, I trust my dad if he's driving and yesterday I went out for a blast in my colleagues Subaru WRX (the 260bhp thing) in black (the best colour :D) and my god we didn't hang about but I felt perfectly safe. Maybe it was due to his driving style and the fact that I was in a much safer car.

Just think, what's the point in tensing up. If you're mates going to crash with you in the car tensing isn't going to make a difference. If you feel uncomfortable then don't get in the car, there's no other way around it...you will get over it my friend. :)

EDIT: I get car sick if I can't see out of the front window in any vehicle.
