Car security features

Cars can also easily get damaged going into or out of modern stupidly narrow garages and have ladders/pots of paint/bicycles fall on them when inside, resulting in increased claims.
 
A few years back I had a friend who owned a pretty nice supra, he had installed a keypad on the inside of the glove box which he could use to disable the ignition completely
I assume it used some kind of relay so it wouldn't be 100% secure, but it would mean the thief would have to rip the dashboard out to remove it.

I have no idea as to whether it affected the insurance premiums though

Unless it was Thatcham approved then it will not reduce the premium. Even with multiple security devices fitted to my motorbike only the best rated Thatcham one counted towards reducing the premium. That is assuming they have not changed the system recently.
