Car security problem

Here's my problem.
I've got 4 of these bass speakers that are used with my rock band and I've now decided to carry 2 to use with my other band.
When I get home at night I have a major problem of trying to handle these on my own because they are a weird shape and now my wife has refused to help (because of her back) and sometimes my daughters aren't in (usually everybody is asleep).
I've had so many friends lose gear out of their cars in the past that I am reluctant to leave them in after a gig until it's safe to get them out.

This is where me being a bit thick comes in -
The car will be backed up to either a garage or another car so the chances of getting them out will be slim unless the car is moved forward.
Of course the alarm will go off as soon as they break in which we will hear immediately and the chances of an opportunist thief having a van nearby would be rare.
The opportunists would also have to lift the bass bins above their heads because they wouldn't have room down the side of the car.
What are the chances they could break in, start the car up and drive off without having the keys?
The car is a Ford Mondeo Estate RK reg and is fitted with an immobiliser.

I've never left gear in cars since I started driving in 75 so this a big deal for me and any advice would be appreciated.

1. Smash window
2. Disengage handbrake
3. Roll forward
4. Open boot
5. ???
6. Profit

Probably not the best idea to leave them in there tbh, too many ***** scum around these days =/

Being sensible for a minute; if you back the car up to the wall/garage (assuming here the only way to get the speakers out is by opening the boot not through the broken rear window) could you then block the car in with your wifes & daughters cars? That way they'd need to break into/move the other cars too.

The car should have deadlocks so even if they break into the car they will be unable to open any door or the tailgate. The speakers are to big to fit through a smashed window so I would say you are safe. It might be worth getting the back windows tinted so that it is harder to see what is in the boot.

Another option is clear out the garage and put the car in it !

It is very unlikely that they will be able to drive the car away without the keys. Hugely unlikely.

It is easy to do this with the right software a laptop and a key set. People wanting a set of Mackie bass bins aren't going to have this equipment though.

I'd just throw a blanket or another cover over them so nobody could tell what it was underneath for a start.

Can't you invest in some sort of trolly so you can move them on your own?

I have one but at 2am in the morning just getting them onto the floor is difficult (I have no problem at 7pm when I'm going out).
Getting them to their cupboard in the house can't be done with a trolley.
It's a 2 man job or a job when I'm fresh in the morning.

This is an idea I had and very easy to do.
My wifes car is in front of the front window and I only need to roll it back 3 foot to create a block.

I'd just throw a blanket or another cover over them so nobody could tell what it was underneath for a start.

This could create a bigger problem if the opportunist wonders what it is

You should really take them out mate, I know guys who have gotten home late at night and just crashed, woke up to find thousands of pounds worth of equipment gone.
Any chav who sees something large and black in your boot will go "ooooh electronics, I can sell them to buy nappies for my inbred baby and blow the rest on cider" and will most likely find a way to get at them.

I won't ask you to say where, but if you're moving them an outbuilding/garage then it's likely that if anyone wants them they will come get them, in the car or otherwise. If someone of that nature see's you moving them to and from the car they're gone either way, but if you don't need to move them as they're already there you're reducing the risk in my view.

I doubt an oppertunist is going to get that far. I bet you'll wake up to an alarm, broken car and still have two bass speakers left over.

It's not much different to having thousands of pounds worth of car audio gear really, and they're probably just as safe in the car. My advice would be to cover them up, maybe chuck some annonymous objects in the boot to make it look like it's just junk in there.

I think they have amps built in :D

They do have amps built in but I don't like the idea of my car being shaken apart :)

Last night I reversed up close to my daughters car, put a blanket over the speakers with a box of plants on top, put an extra lock on my steering wheel and put my wifes car in front of mine :D

How bad is the area you live in? Do lots of scallies walk past? If they don't then I wouldn't worry about it as no one is likely to notice bass bins in the car. If you do then I'd move :)
