Car Simulator

Why have sections at all then?

To post in - yes, but one post in the wrong section every so often isn't a crime especially when the OP decided that this was the section that relates to what he's posting.

You could say 'Why have moderators then?' - as one of their jobs is to moderate the forums and make sure that posts are placed in the correct sections. It's hardly a crime and whether it's a mistake or not there's no need for constant posts from people about it. Anyway, it's pointless moaning at the OP as he has no power to change the category himself now. :p

Personally I think that the OP's idea is very cool and I would love to see how it progresses and finally turns out. :D:D

Stop whining and start congratulating the OP for what appears to be an amazing plan.

I'll whine if I want, thanks.

It shouldn't be here if it's a PC project, and that's why he's not getting the "Well done mate, looks brilliant" arse licking feedback he wants, since he couldn't be bothered posting it in the right place, and then argued that it was the right place as he misunderstood the title of the section.

Good luck anyway ;)

Cool.

Personally if I was doing it (and had the time, money and skill) I'd keep the car's actual steering wheel and wire it up to the controller somehow. 'Toy' steering wheels are never as big as the real thing.

This is a possibility, The G25 does accept some Momo steering wheels, So I might go along those lines :)

Seriously haha :)

If you've got nothing constructive or have any criticism about my project then please click the back button, because there's nothing for you here.

Arse licking feedback? Couldn't be bothered posting it in the right place? Misunderstood the title of the section.

I think your misunderstanding my previous posts, I stated it wasn't suitable for the 'PC Games' section nor any other section, which is the reason I posted in here.

If you have such a big problem with this, as it seems you do, please by all means click that Triangle with an exclamation mark in it.

It's a simulator running off of a PC, it's a PC game.

Couldn't think of a better place to put it "Consoles and Hardware"

That implies you thought hardware referred to anything you wanted it to, as opposed to a games console, there isn't a games console in sight here ;)

I don't have a big problem with it, I'm just pointing out it's in the wrong section, even if you don't think it is, and then you start getting upset and go off on a rant about the quality of the forums, merely because it was pointed out it's in the wrong section.

Actually, I looked in the Games section, saw PC Games section, and, Consoles + Hardware section. Thought to myself well it isn't a PC Game. So I decided to post it in here.

Upset? I've tears streaming down my face...

Rant? Sure, I'll stand by what I said...

Anyway, hopefully the mods will be along soon to clear these rather OT posts :)

Mr White must be having a bad day lol.

Anyways an awesome project! Looking forward to hearing about how it goes. You might have a product to take to market once its materialised. :)

ok then, questions related to topic.

1. Why?
2. Where you gonna put it?
3. How much motion are you actually wanting to put through the seat?
4. How many games are actually going to support it?

1. Why? A different Project and I play LFS a lot, I'm tired of using a PS2 Controller, I know want something more realistic. Something I think I'll enjoy doing and I'm sure my friends will get enjoyment from it aswell.

2. Where you gonna put it? I have a big 22ft by 19ft outbuilding, this will be tucked away in one of the corners

3. How much motion are you actually wanting to put through the seat? This is something Im still debateable on, whether I move the whole car or just the seat, if its the seats I've got to bare in mind the roof so maybe a max of 6" to 7"

4. How many games are actually going to support it?

Currently:
LFS (Live for speed)
rFactor
GTR
GT Legends
GTR2
DiRT
+ some more and flight sims
.

I saw the reply before it was deleted, it really did help to prove my point

Anyway, back OT, After speaking to some people they've suggested Airbags for the actual movement of the shell, now I can't see this being quick enough really, but something else I'll research into :)
