Not sure if here or the motor forum is the best place to ask, but thought I'd give it a punt. Looking for a 16.5cm/6.5in pair of speakers I can drop into my wee Vauxhall Agila B (Opel Agila/Suzuki Swift). Looking up to £100-£200. I know it's a cheap ass car but while I'm using it I'd like the commute to sound good.

I listen to a lot of rock and metal, but also softer alt-pop and Soul/R&B. I'd put a priority on a mostly-balanced speaker with good clarity through the mids and highs, while still packing a decent bass punch. This is going to be used on long commutes so I'm more interested in a comfortable, hearing-safe listening experience than maximum volume or rattling my bones.

Again, sorry if this is the wrong place, but thanks for any advice on what to buy or even where to look for info - I can't seem to find an RTings/What HiFi type of space for Car Audio.

Talk audio used to be massive for this sort of thing no idea if it still is now though.
Speakers are only as good as what drives them and I'm guessing in this instance a generic factory no amp head unit?

It's years since I've fitted speakers. I've got Pioneer head unit and Pioneer speakers in mine.

On a Vauxhall you might need a plastic bracket / converter that mounts inside the door, then the speaker connects to that.

When the door cards come off, take the opportunity to re-grease all the central locking and window mech.

You also might need wiring adapters to save cutting the wiring.

For the front speakers you want something with good mid range and good quality tweeters, try and avoid the lower quality model speakers. On a car the front speakers do the sound stage, the rear speakers just give fill in. So focus on front speakers first.

Normally its the **** weak amp in the factory/OEM head unit thats the issue, rather than the speakers, so I'd always upgrade the head unit first, to something half decent, and then see where the land lays before you start buying speakers and pulling the doors apart.
