No more than insurance group 10, preferably hatchback. around 6-8k to spend. Coming up from 1.2 corsa so something quicker and bigger than that.

Currently looking at the usual, focus, astra, civic and wondered what else people suggested.

Cheers

Focus ST170 - Insurance Group 15
Mondeo ST24 - Insurance Group 16

Know doesn't mean much - but OP did ask for <=IG10

You'd get a really nice E36 BMW M3 Evolution for this money, failing that, how about something like a W220 Mercedes S500?

After the way the last 'spec me a normal car' thread went i figured I may as well get them in now :p

Insurance groups shouldn't be a deciding factor when picking up a car, insurance quotes should be.

it is for me I'm afraid. No ncb and an accident at fault. Quote on sisters grp 10 civic was 1200 dont want to pay more than that really.
Keep ideas coming will look at most of them. (except fiats, I saw the last thread)

It's perfectly possible that a higher group car will have a lower quote than that civic. It seems idiotic but it can, and will often happen.

And what im trying to tell you is that Insurance groups mean nothing, its the actual quote that matters. I got insured on a group 19 car with 0NCD and a fault accident claim, I was not expecting to be insured cheaply because of the group but turns out, groups mean very little.

Undoubtedly. For some utterly bizarre reason, Civics seem more expensive to insure than Aston Martins, Bently Contintentals and even Bugatti Veyrons. Don't know why, but it's the way it is ;)

So what? Insured my Group 17 car with no NCB and a fault claim a few years back.

How much did it cost you though?? OP wants to spend no more than 1200, however it would make more sense to work on quotes than IG.

Just what I was thinking. I'm looking at a group 15 car, I have 0NCB and 2 fault accidents (1 claim) and am getting quotes of £1000. But then I do have 4 years on my license which counts for something I suppose...and I just ran a group 19 car (Supra Twin Turbo...so 3.0l Turbo, RWD) and the quote was £1100. :)

thats positive i guess. im 21 and in Jan will have 4 years on my licence.

Coming from a Corsa, you'll be right at home with an Ibiza FR 1.8T.

That's Group 12 though but won't be that much difference on insurance if you shop around.

Or just get a 2.0 Focus which is under group 10.

Don't question the collective again, ever ;)

Damn the Borg are here, quick where are speices 8472 :D

Anything will be better than the corsa, but I wouldn't recommend an £11k Fiat.

A good amount of cash, maybe a seat leon, good cars, also check out the focus ST.

ok, went onto bell last night. mondeo st220 around 7000 would only be 680 for me to insure :) similar for a 2l tdci focus. in that case people hit me with car suggestions regardless of insurance group
