Car todo lists....

Got round to changing my horrible gearknob for something nicer:

Intended for a Escort GTI but the alluring red and lovely smell of leather made it too tempting :D

My car now stinks of leather :D

Mine's just gone in for a new turbo intake pipe and (finally) a front-mount intercooler.

Next up will be serious work, but only if I still have a job in six months time.

Car (MX5 1.8i 2002)

1) Fit K&N Typhoon
2) New gearknob
3) Windbreak, possibly with speakers

That's about it

Bike (GSX600F 1997)

1) New Windscreen, ideally black or purple
2) Crash mushrooms
3) Try and polish out scratches on fairing due to n00b dropping at 0mph :p

Buy a car with ABS

Tested out some rapid braking last night on an empty road in my village, and it was worrying how hard it would to control a skid in a must stop situation without freezing and just holding the brake pedal down.

*Signs up for advanced lessons*

After replacing the downpipe and turbo a few weeks ago, I got around to ordering the rest of the exhaust and replaced it tonight.

That's a Mongoose 2.5" mandrel bent cat-back system with a de-cat pipe. Vast improvement to the car's performance. After measuring the bore of the old cat, it came out at about 1.8"... no wonder I wasn't impressed after fitting the new turbo!

Oh, this happened to the old middle pipe while trying to undo one of the bolts. The twisting forces involved ripped it apart  :D

That exhaust looks a lot better than the rear shocks I have to say :D

1. Replace wheel bearing which has just started droning.
2. Fit 4x new tyres
3. Tidy up body work and detail.
4. Sell up because the new gf lives 40 miles away so using at least £50 in fuel a week and spent £2k in the past 14 months keeping her on the road. Need to clear my overdraft and buy something that's cheaper to run so I can get my own flat!

Whilst I was originally after an MGW shifter I've managed to get my hands on a brand new Hurst Comp/Plus Short Throw Shifter at a very good price today.

I've just bought the most expensive piece of plastic you've ever seen (£400) so I'm gonna wear cotton gloves tomorrow when I fit it!
