Simple question really i suppose, would you take the following car through a car wash?

Basically - my father is home tomorrow and i want my car clean, and at the moment i dont have access to my back yard due to roadworks.

Would you leave it dirty or would you take it through a car wash? it will be at around 5pmish i would be taking it, so getting a hand wash or hand washing it at a garage myself isnt really preferred.

Opinions?

I dont want a car wash to hurt my car!

I have NEVER taken my Honda through a car wash. My car has a full body kit, and rear spoiler and I just wouldn't take my car through one. They are awful contraptions anyhow. They scatch paint, do not wash correctly, and then seal ground in dirt and grime by applying there wax systems that do little more then repel water for a few days.

Car washes are a waste of money, and not worth it. They have also been known to bust door mirrors as well.

Jet wash is OK, provided you know what you are doing.. I've seen idiots jet wash plastic bumpers, and crack the paint off.. They can be that strong, you can't beat a good lambs mitt, with car shampoo.... IMO.

Yes, carrying a bucket of water to the road is a complex operation, I understand why you might not consider it :p

I wouldn't use an auto wash doodah though, at a push i'd use the jetwash, but doing by hand or getting a hand car wash service are my usual choices.. for the 3 times a year i actually wash my car :D

I dont know if im alone in saying i dont fancy washing my car on the side of the road, not really my sort of thing - especially when its a roa dlike the one near me ;P

And also on the road at 5pm would be darker than in my yard, and i missed dirt last time i washed it in the light, nevermind trying by hand in the dark :p :P

And as far as 3 washes in your cars year, i was h mine once to twice a week usually :)

Swirl marks on the paint work, no thanks, do it myself everytime even if it does take a good 2-3 hours to do it properly, I'm happy after knowing it is spotless everywhere :D

In my years of driving I've never taken a car through a car wash once, they just ruin the paint work.

looks like that will be fine tbh, I would only hesitate if it was a huge spoiler. Still wouldnt take a car of mine through one of those things though :o

We've got a 'No Brushes' Car Wash near us!!! (Swindon) that just has a load of High power Jets moving back and forth allong the car (and under), I use only That!!!, I've seen a mates spare wheel cover ripped off his Rav4 in a normal Car Wash!...

Don't want the same for my CR-V!...

only thing is when the Jets squirt up your bonnet the rad don't half steam!... Worried me the first time it did it!!!... :D

I wouldn't even subject my £150 Rover to a car wash.

Many garages offer a service where by you wash it yourself for a few pounds.

Or find some Albanians to wash it for a fiver. There operate in a few car parks in Bristol, so I am sure they do in your town/city too.

Working in a petrol station with an automatic car wash I would strongly discourage you from taking that car through the system.

So many times I have had to collect details (albeit with our company disclaimer displayed & no equipment fault) from drivers which have had 1. spoilers 2. rover bits 3. wing mirrors ripped off.

I make a point of asking each and every customer who wishes to use the drive through wash if they have a spoiler, or roof rack on their car.
