Car won't lock

Some of you may remember that my car wasn't starting and I posted on here. Anyway I got the RAC out today and the guy got it working but now the car will not lock.

When I try to lock it (using either the key or remote) it will lock but then unlock again right away.

I can get all the doors (apart from drivers) to lock by pushing the locks down but can't lock the drivers one. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks. :)

Have you tried opening and slamming shut all the doors and the boot? This happens with my car (306) if something's not quite shut correctly. Could be talking tosh but worth throwing it in..

are your interior lights on? Sounds like a door switch has broken. Dunno what car it is but my Citroen at least won't lock unless all the doors are shut. Probably to stop you locking it, throwing the keys inside and shutting the door.

Either the Drivers door lock is broken, or just really stiff.

This is why it unlocks again immediately. Usually it's just the motor that locks the drivers door which wears out but it sounds like the lock itself in this case.

Unless you find a decent fix, all i can think of, is lock the driver door when inside the car, hope out the passenger seat lock the passenger door! Then all the doors should be locked!

You should be able to lock the drivers door via the rear passenger door. Thats what we do atm because our alarm goes off using the key fob and locking via the door key lock arms the alarm.
