Carabao Cup Final Liverpool v Newcastle ** Spoilers ** [16th March 2025 @16:30]

So much for Skys super Sunday of sport.

Started of with the recording of the F1 failing due to a software issue. Then Liverpool losing the final and to top it off the golf has been delayed due to lightning.

More like super sh...... Sunday.

I didn’t realise football started in 2023.

It’s actually even more funny you think I’d forgotten about that.

We beat probably some of the best teams in the league on the way to this trophy apart from Wimbledon.

Forest, Chelsea, Brentford, Arsenal double and now we just defeated the best team this season in Liverpool in the final what a journey.

The battle of two of the best midfields in the league which we were fabulous forcing Liverpool to go long and Dan Burn was mopping up everything that came his way.

Man to man and aggression in the press. We won this on the front foot!!

Ah man, don’t think I was quite prepared for that.

I said in the very first post on this thread that Newcastle could win this but every player needs to be an 8 or 9 out of 10 and they weren’t. Most were 10’s, Burn an 11 and Joelinton a 12. I said Newcastle had to be at maximum effort for the entire game and they were, they were fitter, stronger and quicker than the opposition today and fully deserved the win. The players won all their duals with that central midfield trio dominant.

Brilliant result, chuffed for the geordie nation.

Thought they deserved it as well.

Last few weeks are the reason why Salah won’t win the ballon dor.
Who's winning it then? A player from a team that wins CL? Shame they don't do it on individual stats and not team ones.

I was coming home earlier and had to travel through Newcastle and Gateshead, I'm not a football fan so had no idea what was going on at first. Lots of drunk and happy people celebrating, then I saw the big black and white shirt on the Angel of the North and semi figured it out.

Great to see them win even if I don't follow the sport, it's nice seeing the community celebrating and coming together, I don't think they've won anything major since I was a kid either so kudos to them.

Can’t sleep going to watch the Amazon documentary to find the clip were he said he’s wants his name in the history books.

Joelinton speaking on the pitch to how much he owes Eddie having faith in him.

I’m still welling up! So many stories all over the pitch.
I'm in bits. Done nowt all day other than an hour at the gym and watch youtube vids and re watch the game. I've also been up since 3am. The club have even sensed and sniffed out my vulnerability and sent me an email about the 25 winners match shirt they wore at the end. Bought one, obviously. Doubt I'll ever wear it.
Typed in my credit card number through a veil of girly tears with the Bruno and Joelinton interviews on a loop. I'm petrified to put on any Sam Fender tunes as I am afraid what sort of crumbled state my mrs may find me in when she gets home from work.

What Eddie how has done is outstanding! Dead and buried facing relegation to champions league to our first silverware in 70 years in 3 and half years!

Really hard to pick a player of the match but it was between 3 players that were just a little better than the rest. Burn, Livermento and Joelinton!

For me it was Joelinton he turned into Gandalf. Hes been the engine this team been runing on. Dropping down to midfield against Norwich in a relegation fight to Dominating Liverpool in a final a few years on.

“You shall not pass”

Stats dont tell the whole story like Henry said the other day (Having said that I don’t think Raphina should win it either.). Salah has a lot of pens but has been missing in the 3 biggest games of their season as well as missing good chances in both games against PSG.

Mbappe probably leading the way. It’s as open as it’s been for years.

It's amazing how much difference new owners can make.
