Carabao Cup Final Manchester City v Spurs ** Spoilers ** [25th April 2021]

Would have expected more especially post Mourinho boost. Maybe things weren't so toxic at Spurs as we thought.

Dont get me wrong its funny to laugh at Spurs but City cleaning up with their money isnt a good look.

United not doing anything with our money is a worse look...

You can level a lot of criticism at City for various things but they have generally spent well and ploughed money into the right areas.

They have a billion pound squad, im not sure thats spending well tbh. They have signed a lot of flops

Spent well? How many ridiculously expensive defenders have they gone through?

What team doesn't sign flops and when you are spending the money City do, those might be expensive flops.

The have spent a very similar amount on their squad to United and have got a far better first team and they have got a second team that could probably come close to top 4.

They haven't been perfect but compared to a lot of teams spending big they have done pretty well. They have a clear plan for their squad and signings and aren't just using a scattershot approach like United.

Pep has spent 832 million alone on a title winning squad...

Stones 50 mil. Only this season is actually producing anything

Benjamin Mendy 50 mil

Claudio Bravo 20 mil

Nolito 20 mil

Mahrez 65 mil

Rodri 60 mil

Angelino 10 mil

João Concelo 60 mil

Nathan Ake 40mil

Just the 400 mil of duds there. I call Mahrez a dud because he hasn't been close to being worth that money.

City have just got an embarrassment of riches in certain positions so those guys are never going to get as much game time as their talent would suggest. I would take Bernado or Mahrez in a heartbeat at United.

50m in the last few years doesn't get you much. Fred, Keita, Maguire, Pepe. All have cost over £50m and haven't set the world alight.

Considering the gulf in class between the United and City squads and the difference in spending. I think City have done OK. Not perfect but pretty well.

Ask a city fan and they will absolutely disagree about the first two. Has Rodri come close to performing as a 65 mil player?

What are you judging the player on though? I imagine the responsibilities of the player are exactly what Pep demands and why they're so good as a team.

Rodri is 23 so of course will be worth it, especially if he's there for the next a decade. He is also top in the PL for defensive midfields for passing accuracy, his role will be pretty integral for years like Fernandinho's has for the past 5/6 years.

Mahrez would walk in any other side in the PL, as would Bernardo Silva/Cancelo etc.

I've heard friends talk about Rodri and Silva a lot this season and you only need to have a read through some City forums to see how highly rated they are by most. I'm not sure what you're judging them on but you're very wrong.
