Carabao Cup - Fourth Round ** Spoilers ** [20th - 22nd December 2022]

Good game to watch, impressed by the young lad Lewis at right back/right mid for City

De Bruyne a class above as per usual. Bet he’s happy to be back at club football.

At least it was an entertaining game. Unfortunately my pre game concerns about our midfield were proven right. I really hate to always bring it up because individually his performances have generally been good but Elliott in a midfield 3 causes us so many problems. It's bad enough with a first choice backline and Fab/Hendo at 6 but against a side like City, with the other changes to the side it's almost suicidal. The amount of times City were able to attack down our right hand side, leaving Milner completely exposed and Bajcetic (who's only recently been converted into a midfielder) not knowing where he needed to be, we were always going to ship goals.
There goes the quadruple.
You're forgetting that we won the Community Shield already! It's still on.
Could bung him out on loan for a couple of years, like Chelsea did with Courtois
It's difficult to find a half decent club that will want their first choice keeper to be a loan player but even if you could, a couple of seasons won't really change much. I think he'll probably move on this summer and I'd imagine we'd push for some sort of buyback clause in any deal.

Bit annoyed with the result in the end. Midfield was all over the place in the 1st half, I think that's probably more a reflection of having a 'new' CM in Bajcetic with Thiago (non existent) and Elliot - who just doesn't suit a midfield 3 for me. Still created a fair few chances over the 90 minutes, Darwin giving me Suarez 1st season vibes in that he's getting into goalscoring positions but not sticking the ball into the net. Robbo was terrible yet again, passing was useless and caught out of position so many times, if it was Trent having that game he'd be getting all sorts of stick.

Just glad proper football is back though.
