Carabao Cup SF Football Thread ** spoilers ** [7th/8th Jan 5th/6th Feb 2025]

First world problems but making the final isn't ideal for us. We're just about to play our game in hand and we're going to end up a game behind in a months time again. With Arsenal out of the FA Cup there's a good chance we could have 2 or more games in hand before long too. The final's also going to fall between the 2nd leg of the last 16 in the CL and Merseyside derby. Fingers crossed we can keep most of the squad available because we're going to need them in these next 3 months.

edit: turns out our game with Villa, which was due the weekend of the final, will now be brought forwards so we won't end up playing catch up.

Nah, getting played off the park is not Spursy. If we had somehow scored 2 and lost 4-3 in the last 2 mins with 3 own goals off Tel’s backside would be Spursy, let’s get it right and not be lazy.
Calm down dear, In my book going into a game with a 1 nil lead and ending up getting battered 4-1 on aggregate is very Spursy.

What a tease! I was going to politely ask you to hand your place over to us.

I wouldn't do that however I am very much of the view that teams in Europe shouldn't play in the League Cup. Not only does it help solve the fixture congestion issues that sides in Europe face but seeing the reaction of West Ham supporters when the won the Europa Conference League, how excited Newcastle fans are for a chance of a trophy and how important it would be for even a side the size of Spurs, it would be great for clubs other than usual 4-5 to win a trophy.

I know Spurs weren't great tonight but it feels like Carragher and Redknapp are going a bit OTT right now. This isn't a good Spurs side, without several players, playing against a very good side. It's easier said than done to say Spurs needed to fight more and get about Liverpool but away from home, without your fans driving you on and getting the ball knocked around you, you can't always do that. Spurs tried to do that very thing vs us in the League game and Spurs got hammered for leaving massive gaps for Liverpool to expose too.

I was thinking the same, it’s simply a great team beating an average/poor team at home. Not exactly a surprise.
