Carabao Cup - Third Round ** Spoilers ** [8th - 10th November 2022]

More on topic, its clear how much we miss Fernandes when it comes to creating chances if he isn't on the pitch. Maguire is 100% going to be sold this coming summer. A blind man can see that he isn't up to playing in a team that isn't sitting deep and doesn't require their centre backs to turn or chase the ball. Its actually embarrassing watching everyone else accelerate away from him so far. Its like you are watching a slow motion replay.

Great goal from Rashford. I'm still not sure he will ever become truly top class but its good to see him enjoying himself again.

Glad to see Martial back and not injured again already.

Slightly concerned that ETH is flogging the squad too hard. Most of the other big teams played their B team and we played 60% of our A team. Fingers crossed all of our players national sides graciously bow out in the group stages and they get a week or twos rest.

Edit: Slightly concerning that it sounds like Garnacho is another young player that might have an attitude issue. We seem to breed them at United.

What's that all about? I was hoping he wasn't a Greentree 2.0.

Oh nothing too serious but he was disciplined twice on the summer tour for turning up late and from EtHs interview after the game it sounded like he was pressing the point that he has a lot of potential but he needs to keep his head down and have the right attitude.

"It depends on his approach, on his attitude," said Ten Hag. "If he keeps his attitude and wants to improve every day and when he is doing the right things in his lifestyle, it is possible."

I hope I am reading into it too much but after Greenwood, Rashfords malaise last season, the general attitude of many of our players last season I am paranoid.

Turning up late twice says a lot about his professionalism.

He's 18, he's a literal adult. He should be turning up on time, its the bare minimum.

He was 17 at a time. Can you say you never did dumb stuff when you were 17? He was punished accordingly and his behavior has improved. It's a complete non story unless it's Manchester United in which case there will be articles for 6 months or so. You can bet this happens at every single club.

Jeez yes I did a lot of stupid **** in my younger years well after I could vote. He was disciplined, ETH seems to have done a great job managing him, he's sorted himself out and is tearing it up on the pitch. Win.

It's like some fans aren't happy unless they have a hate figure! Surely Maguire is a big enough target to get your vitriol out on :p

Were you in a job on £80k a year salary at the age of 17/18?

Now I'm intrigued if your argument is that he should bloody well behave if he's getting paid well, or that having piles of money and fame at that age makes it hard to keep your feet on the ground.

Both are valid to some degree, in my view!

FFS. I stopped watching around 40 minutes because I had work to do and it was boring.
I had to go to sleep after the first half. Thankfully it did just that but waking up to 4-2 was a bit of a shock.

Definitely feel we could have gotten more out of that game with Martinez in net. Going up twice to lose 4-2 to stupid defensive mistakes is proper Villa at this point though. Desperate for a CB or two and a 2nd GK.

If you turned up late to a very highly paid job and you were very junior it would be very frowned up.

The difference is that most very highly paid jobs are also much more professional than being a footballer where you can still act like a 12 year old when you are mid 30s.

I imagine that its hard to be normal when you are on silly money at a time in your life when most of your mates aren't even earning a penny. Especially when you have so much free time.
