Caramelising onions

Slice mediumly. Lots of oil. Medium heat. Throw em in. Leave for 10 mins, stir, leave, stir, leave, stir. Salt. Leave, stir, leave, stir, add pinch of sugar, turn up heat for last 5 mins.... Eat.... Mmmmmm
 
I had caramelised onion gravy with my tea tonight, it was the most disgusting gravy I've ever had, ruined my meal :(
