Carbice Pads vs Thermal Paste

Hi,

I'm considering buying an AMD 5800X3D and I note that this comes with a Carbice thermal pad. I'm only just learning of these today, my immediate question is this a better solution than a good thermal paste application or just a more convenient one?

I get that it lasts longer, probably easier to apply, but does it result in better thermals?

if you have a nosey through the thread below, the last couple pages mainly, you'll see a few folk talking about the carbice pads.

I have been watching many youtubes on the carbice pads and think they are very useable. I think that you will get slightly better performance from paste initially until it dries out. the carbice pads however will never dry out and can be reused on a new cpu. note that the carbice pads seem to need more force to tighten and that the performance improves after 1 week

Thanks for the replies, maybe I will try the carbice pad and monitor how it goes. I'm not intending to overclock the CPU so chances are it will be fine for my needs.

TIM is good enough for me, but I'm not running hot components. I haven't had to R&R my 3600 build sense it was built over 6 years ago.
