Carbwise Bar offers (again!)

I wouldn't eat them if they were free, have you read the ingredients?

Partially Hydrogenated Palm Kernel Oil,

i.e trans fats, one of the most harmful legal substances you can put in your body, a huge part of obesity problems and undisputed number one choice for high cholesterol and heart disease. Note that the type of oil is irrelevant it's the words 'partially hydrogenated' that means it's very, very bad.

Spot on, when will people wake up to the dangers of hydrogenated fats, partially or not? They are the only fat that the WHO actually say don't put any of it in your body, no daily recommended amount or anything. Thing is they're appearing in so many different things, especially ready meals which is why I won't let my family near them.

Are you not able to get the same effect from unadulterated food as from these bars?

13g of protein per bar?! Is that all? I'd rather eat a chicken sandwich tbh..probably cheaper too.

[edit] Although thanks for the heads-up Brocksta :D ..don't want to appear ungrateful.Don't think those bars are for me though ;) [/edit]

Another edit..these are the bars I recently bought..around £18.00 for a box of 12 bars.
Linky

Only problem is can't remember where from.If anyone is interested in knowing I'll try and dig out the link

I bought loads of these last time the offer was on, seemed a cheap and convenient way of getting extra protein however the fact that they taste absolutely disgusting and give you the worst wind imaginable, whilst simulataneously helping you towards a coronary means that most of them are still in my kitchen.

My advice is not to waste your money. I wonder if I can sell em on Members Market ;)

Just been looking through the ingrediant list of another protein bar and that also lists 'Partially Hydrogenated Palm Kernel Oil' yet in the breakdown by mass of the different components it lists 'Trans fats 0g' Other ingredients are listed down to 0.1g so would have thought that if it contained any trans fats it would list, even slightly.
