Hi guys,

I'm looking at doing an upgrade next month, i am aiming to be high spec as i can with a max graphics budget of £450, and have a couple of questions:

Is the 8800 Ultra just a clocked up version of the gtx? As far as i can see there is approx 100mhz higher clock with no other differences, so are these worth the price, or am i better off with a gtx and clocking it up a bit?

Secondly, when are the new Nvidia cards due out? Would i be better off waiting till there release? I know its a hard question and you can be forever waiting for new releases  But i could do with this PC lasting for a good 2 years.

Thanks for any advice
Jack

Ultra not worth the extra money. Juts buy a GTX and overclock it. You ought to get it to at least ultra speed if not more.

New cards out in November and IMO you would be better to wait. If you havenlt got a half decent grpahics card then buy the 1950pro for £70 to tide you over. You should get half you money back when the new cards come out.

The GTX isn't as fast as it ought to be so better to buy one of the new ones if you want it to last 2 years. The 9800 GTS ought to be faster than the 8800 GTX and cheaper than the GTX is currentty so imagine what the 9800 GTX will be like.

There is other slight differences with the Ultra, like a slightly newer core, and some others which i can't think of, but at thr end of the day the GTX can be clocked up, so the Ultra isn't worth the extra, adn the new Nvidia cards (G92's) are due out November. :)

Bah to slow.:p

The REV3 Core as you said, added to very expensive 0.8ns Samsung Memory.

Can you wait till Nov for a new GTX (we hope), rumour is they will hold off on new Ultra till after ATI hit back so Feb 08 (guess)
