It basically goes:

8800 (512MB) GTS -> 8800 GT -> 9600 (8800GTS being the best).

But as you can obviously see from the tons of threads in this forum, the new graphics cards are coming out soon. I am a little surprised you would want to upgrde now rather than wait.

Wheres does the 9800Gt fit in which is on one of the links i posted. Is this better than the 8800 GTS. Yea i have heard about the new cards. Will be waiting, may stil go for a similar card but at least it will be cheaper if theres a new series coming out

Thanks Dark angel
In terms of the two cards i posted above (Links)
which is better the 8800gts or the 9800gtx.
They are in a similar price bracket. The 8800gts looks to be a little faster but i would assume the 9800gtx is a better series/ better chipset?

Thanks

Basically, the 9800GTX is a rebranded 8800GTS. There is a small difference in speed, but definately not worth the extra £££. If you want my opinion, then i would say wait a couple of weeks for the new cards to come out.

There are some slight differences on the actual design of the cards, but to be honest even if one was made out of gold and the other made out of chese, the bottom line is that in this case the cheese (the 8800 GTS) is almost as good as the gold (the more expensive 9800GTX).

The only time I would buy the 9800 GTX would be for tri SLI or something, other than that the 880 GTS 512MB is a better buy.

If I was paying the best part of 150 for a GPU though, I would wait (which is actually what I am doing - I want to personally upgrade from an 8800 GTS 320MB) and see what the new cards from both ATI and NV have in store for us.

Thanks for the info guys. Most appreciated. I will wait around to see what the new cards are like. They will more than likely be out of my price range but at least a new range will cause the older ranges to drop in price saving a few quid and for the sake of waiting a couple of weeks id be silly not to!
