Card Reader problem

Just reinstalled vista after changing mobos.

Now when i plug my card reader in it asks for a driver :mad:

It never did before, it just worked.

Any ideas guys? The card slot on my printer works fine tho :confused:

i've not used vista, but

does it not just do the search for drivers on the internet thing like XP does?

It does but it says it cant find any.

It shouldnt need any tho, it never has before

Try deleting INFCACHE.1 from c:\windows\inf\

You will need to take ownership of the file, then change the security on the file to allow you to delete it though.

There is a known issue with Vista and USB devices, this usually remedies it.

Hmm well i ended up reinstalling as i was having a few issues not just with USB.

So far, it seems to have done the trick, the only thing i didnt do this time was install the chipset driver :confused:
