I want to replace my current HTPC GFX card with something that has 2x HDMI ports that can carry sound so I can connect my HTPC to 2x LCD TV's.

Can anyone recommend a suitable card as I've not found anything :(

Cheers, Jon

If you get a modern ATI card (4000 series +) with 2 DVI ports you can use two of the ATI DVI-HDMI converters as these will pass both the image and the audio to the HDMI cables.

Alternatively, if you get a card with a single HDMI and a DVI then you only have to find one ATI DVI-HDMI adapter (hopefully one will come with the card).

hmm..you could grab an ati card with 2xDVI ports, then it'll come with a DVI->HDMI adapter. Then if you can get ahold of another adapter you shouuuuuuuld be in business.

Note that the DVI ports on recent ATI cards can carry sound :)

(ehheh beaten to it :p)

Ah I wasn't aware of this!

Can anyone recomend a cheap, low power ATi card that has one HDMI and one DVI that will do what I want?

My intention would be to hook up the HDMI port to my home cinema system (its a bit fussy about what I hook up to it!) and then the DVI to HDMI directly to my second TV.

Cheers, Jon

I think that should work OK, you may have problems if you want HDMI to carry audio too though. Sometimes it can be picky about these things.

I have a feeling they'd both do picture but only one would carry audio. I couldn't tell you for sure without trying though, sorry.

Another thought - do you wan't independent pictures or cloned screens? If you just want them cloned you can buy a HDMI splitter that should work. I believe such things exist and aren't too pricey.

look for a hd5450 (the ocuk ones seem to have mysteriously disappeared...). They have 1 hdmi and 1 dvi (dunno if they come with a dvi to hdmi dongle. i guess that varies per manufacturer).

dont spend over 40 quid on it though. They were 50 when they were first introduced, and that was a complete rip off for what they are. most seem to be in the £35-45 region nowadays

A splitter would be fine as long as the signal it outputs doesn't cause my home cinema system as my surround amp is where I plug in the HDMI cable and I've had hand shaking issues in the past with it
