Edit: to be clear this is substantially better than the Clarity as it allows fee free cash withdrawals. Clarity no longer does. It also includes 0.25% cashback (every little helps).

Edit2: The god tier answer is to couple the BC Rewards card with Revolut, because you can exchange your money during the work week and hold it in the foreign currency. Almost all fee free card will have a 2% weekend charge.

Just looking at this now, is that right they don't charge extra for cash withdrawals from an ATM?

Well it was new news at the point it was changed, wasn't it? Some people are still using it thinking it is fee free when it absolutely isn't.

Correct - but only abroad.

It is sneaky marketing. It was "free free" before, i.e. no charge and it was treated as a purchase (i.e. 56 days interest free). It is now treated as a cash advance so interest is charged from the second it is withdrawn.

I think even Barclaycard incurs daily interest on cash withdrawls though doesn't it?

I guess that's my point, I don't think it ever 'changed' as it's been the same for at least 7 years. I use it all the time until this day for cash withdrawals and I've always known interest charged from day 1.

More likely is that Barclays Reward credit card changed (or was when it was launched?) to not charge interest until statement and for some reason people thought Clarity has changed, when it hasn't.

I can't be bothered to search but it was someone that lectured me that Clarity used to be that same as Rewards; I've never used Clarity myself.

It's been a long time since I've been on a holiday. The last time was to the US.

I used a credit card over a debit card because it had more protection when using other banks ATM's.

I'm not sure if this is the same for holidaying in the UK, but before I went to the US I informed the bank in case they thought there was some fraudulent activity going on.

It doesn't seem to be as clear as it used to be --- even this website that describe it as being 56 days interest free mentions a summary box on the Barclays website which no longer exists...
