Hi,

Bit depressed just now and need a change in career direction.

I'm 26 and have a 2:2 degree in Actuarial Maths. Currently I work in London in Insurance after moving from Scotland last year. I took a backwards step (in terms of what I did) to move to London with the idea there would be good career prospects at my current employer (much larger globally). Whilst my company do want me to progress I don't really see much opportunities arising here to progress and I'm not happy in my current team.

I am doing professional insurance exams but this doesn't really interest me. I really want to do an accountancy qualification. Do you think it is too late for me to get on a graduate scheme (the whole recruitment process really does put me off though!).

On the other hand I could finish off my insurance exams and make the most of it - possibly look to working in Lloyds in the future?

Just looking for some thoughts on the matter.

Thanks.

No point carrying on with a path you aren't happy on. Try approaching some accountancy firms and see what they say.

If it's the encouragement you seek for doing the graduate scheme, then I'd say you do it. You never know what will happen.
