I have to take a trip over to Manchester City Centre tomorrow and Wednesday to do some retail work, now I know City Centre's aren't the best for parking. Which is the best carpark to use provided theres enough space?

Hours are around 8am until 4.15pm

Cost shouldn't be an issue as it's all being paid for...

Thanks for your help.

:)

If cost is not an issue then just bung it in the NCP near the National Express Coach Station which is off Portland Street.

How far is Portland St from the Arndale? How many spaces does this carpark have and also is it indoor? I'm likely to be there 9 or so hours so what do you reckon the cost will be?

I only prefer indoor carparks with CCTV.

Thanks once again.

Where abouts is that? The only NCP I can think of in Manchester is the one near Victoria Station.

Tupac, can't you drive down to Bury/Radcliffe and get the metrolink into Manchester?

I might aswell just get the train from Rochdale hehe.

These indoor multi-story carparks with around 500-600 spaces, will they be full by say 8-9am

?

I'd do that.

Arndale has its own car park mate

Reaching the Manchester Arndale couldn't be easier with regular trains, buses and Metrolink running into the city, and for those visiting by car, that's no problem either, as there is a large multi-storey car park with 1450 spaces situated next door on High Street.

For further information see links and contact numbers below:
NCP High Street Car Park: 0161 832 6471
Local bus and rail services: 0161 228 7811
Metrolink: 0161 205 2000

1450 is plenty mate :)

I was told that the Arndale one is shut off cos of the market being rebuilt or something? But then again I don't know how certain the guy is on this.

I'll have to confirm it later with me Dad unless someone else knows for definite if the Arndale Carpark is still open thats used it in the past week...

Was'nt that years back, after the IRA bombing ?

OK on the Arndale Centre map, it shows a carpark thats in the zone thats under development, is that still accessible?

Can't say I know about the market but whenever I go into Manchester I always get the train, a lot less hasstle and definately easier.

Driving round Manchester city centre is a right pain in the ****. Much easier just to walk or get a black cab :)

Use the one under the arndale! One of the entrances is closed but the ramp entrance is still open.

I find driving in the City Centre a breeze cause I know loads of little short cuts to cut the traffic out which helps :D. Although the one way streets can be a pain :(.

If they are all full, you can try the one just off Upper Bridge Street which is about 5 minutes walk from the Arndale.

There is also a brand new multistorey at the new Shudehill Interchange (Manchester Printworks Mscp) which is only yards away from the Arndale car park (Manchester High Street Jv). You can find prices via the links.

Click here for PDF map. The new Printworks car park is accessed by turning off Shudehill where the "2" is on the map. The Arndale car park entrance is very close by, just where the Metrolink line intersects Withy Grove, on the corner.

If I were choosing between the two then I'd definately go for the Printworks. A lot brighter, parking bays are a bit bigger, and probably better CCTV coverage.
