Probably too late, but there are about 3 carparks round the back of the station, which are just gravel and cost about £5 (or less) for the whole day iirc. I always use them when I'm up visiting friends in Manc.

the NCP at porland, i used for 3 days a couple of weeks back, i arrived around morning to midday and never had a problem finding a space
