Carpet cleaning machines

I have the cheapo vax one, cost about 90 quid and works perfectly fine.

If you wanna do the stairs, there's a spot cleaning gizmo for 90 quid too, which seems handy for spillages too.

We have a Vax Platinum and it works really well. Despite cleaning the rugs and carpets regularly its surprising how dirty the water is after a good clean, its pretty gross really but we do have a dog which doesnt help

I have a Vax (I think?) carpet cleaner. It's OK. It certainly isn't as good as Rug Doctor so some more difficult stains still need a Rug Doctor. But we have used it a huge amount. It's not just the cost but also the convenience of being able to whip it out (fnar fnar) and quickly clean the wifes rug (ooh err mussus). It saves a return trip to hire one which turns into a whole day wasted. I love mine and my wife's rug has never been so trim and clean.

Don't get a Bissell. They are overpriced Chinese junk. I have the spot carpet cleaner they do; ok, it does technically work, but the ratio of noise/heat to suction it creates is ridiculous and it's obvious from handling it that it won't last long.

Got a Bissell CleanView PowerBrush and its a great bit of kit. Saved numerous carpets and also works great on the car seats. Sure its not the quietest thing in the world but it does what you want it too, clean carpets. Its not really the kind of thing you start doing at 10pm so it doesn't need to be that quiet. Cant comment on price as i think it was about 50 / 60% off when I brought it to replace the rubbish Vax Spring Clean thing I had, so it wasn't much more but infinitely better at cleaning!

We have had our Bissel for several years now. Always a great piece of kit to have especially with dogs and kids.

Do the cars and carpets once a year with it and even still gets a load of muck out from over the winter.

It does a good job but good god the noise is horrendous, it makes me feel sick when I use it.

I am still rocking a Dyson DC07. Heat plus noise is terrible but the suction more than makes up for it :)

Hire a commercial one. Unless you're a proper Tate supporter and the wife has blistered knees from enforced scrubbing and "things" :)

Even ex vicars appreciate a device with a famed powerful suction, even if it does end them up in court ;)
