The game’s story centers on a crew waking from a thirty-year hibernation in the middle of a war raging from Earth to humanity's first colony in another solar system.

You are the commander of a near-future aircraft carrier of immense power, with many tools and vehicles at your disposal. Landing in an unfamiliar, free-roaming environment, exploration will be key and the thrill of discovery will spur you onward.

The colony planetoid of Taurus is a pivotal battleground in the United Earth Coalition (UEC)'s long campaign against the rogue Asian Pacific Alliance (APA), who gained dominion over Earth in an apocalyptic conflict. The wide oceans of Taurus are dotted with resource-rich islands of varying composition and hiding many secrets.
Battle Over Air, Land and Sea
Exciting first-person action and true strategic play combine to deliver a complete experience like no other.

Fight For Control Of Taurus
Traverse the seas to establish a network of island bases for defense, mining and manufacturing. Keep a steady supply of resources to push your campaign forward.

Think Fast
Every island is a new battleground requiring new tactics. Disrupt your enemy's supply lines at their weakest points, but be careful not to leave your own logistics network vulnerable to attack.

Expand Your Capabilities
Explore freely and complete dynamic missions to find new technology and weapons, until you are strong enough to defeat the enemy carrier.

Looks decent enough, just the older CC gets, the less it needs to come back.

One of those games that had it's time and day, 20+ years.. it needed to happen 10 years ago.

There was a decent 'remake' over 5 years ago called Hostile Waters by Rage and the newly bought DiD (THX, EF2000 fame) team. It was pretty good if I seem to remember.

I played that, excellent game! Which was very similiar to Battlezone 2 which again was a great game.

Wow I remember playign the original, it was so hard the enemy carrier always cheated i felt

The enemy carrier was far superior to your own, so it could capture islands faster than you and was the favourite in a head-to-head. So yeah, while not strictly cheating, it did make the game extremely difficult to win. If I recall correctly there was a way to cheese a victory, but I can't remember what it was.

Yeah, less a remake and more a spiritual sequel really, but I agree that it was bloody fantastic. And criminally overlooked. I think it's available on GOG these days.

Agreed, Hostile Waters was a fantastic game.

Thanks for the link! Wow! I wasn't able to watch it properly (or listen to it) with my kids running around, but it looks incredible! As someone who loved the original game I'm really excited about this.

Does anyone know anything about game modes? I assume there'll be a campaign but will there be a kind of sandbox mode which the original essentially was?

Edit: Never mind. Stupid question is stupid.

The original is one of the key gaming experiences of my teenage years, so Bohemia will have to do a near perfect job with this reimagining. My knives are being sharpened. :D

The campaign option does seem to steer it more towards Hostile Waters, which is no bad thing either I must add. Yet the inclusion of a 'sandbox' option is most appreciated.
