there is something so *right* about these though, very very small, RWD turbo'd convertable - tunable to silly BHP/ton relatively easily.

but yes, they are camper than a row of tents :D

Same goes for the smart roadster/coupe - they should be wonderful cars but let down by the gearbox and power, still supposed to be a hoot to drive. The next gen is promising though

I've honestly never had that problem during my ownership, I've only had compliments and mostly people being surprised I could afford one :rolleyes:

Besides, modding MX5's to look how you want is very readily available and don't cost the earth either. And at the end of the day, it should only be your opinion of the car that counts.

Apparently not a very good car, steering is awful, gearbox is nasty, doesn' really go.... but I'd still like one :D

I was going to get one of these in black a while back but the gearbox put me off... I do like the look of them (except the notchbacks) though.

I've not seen one for the coupe/roadster, just the four2 (or whateven it is) but that would be sweet :D

its funny, pretty much anyone who knows anything about the little beasties has got over the "hairdresser" image and recognizes quite how good a car they are, every one else just needs to be taken out for a hoon in one to change their mind!
 
BMW 850CSI: few other cars emanate the "You know what? I don't give a **** about the environment, my fuel bills, the fact that this car is not as fast as an M5, etc." statement as beautifully as this one. It's massive, not particularly fast, obnoxious, impossible to justify and everybody will think that the driver is a tool.

Want. Badly.

I'm quite tempted to steer my gf in this kind of direction when it comes to new car time. I'm sure they will be "too old" or "not economical enough" or "the tax is too high"

Whilst she uses her car 5 days a week I probably do more miles in it than she does so something fun with a drop top would be great plus it wouldn't be mine so I wouldn't lose man points or whatever it is we are measuring "man-ness" with these days :p
