Cars you wish you had never sold....

My old Corolla GT
Looked a bit like this, but mine was red (white is a horrible colour for any car IMO):
MLNA0078.sized.jpg

No power steering, just slightly heavier than a 205 GTi, 1.6 twin cam engine from the MR2 with a rev limit at 7800rpm (pretty much a VTEC back in the 80s), sounded like half a Ferrari through tunnels.
I owned two, second one was sold with 144,000 on the clock, still went well, could hang the tail out on wet roundabouts with lift off oversteer, just a wonderful motor.
The guy I sold it too was going to take it rallying, which I guess is better than going down to the breakers yard.

My old 214.

Now it's come to sell it and I put it in for the MOT... it's costing me more now then it has done through the year I owned it :D

My Escort Cosworth, i had it 8 or 9 years from new and sold it to go Japanese, id give my left nacker for it back :( ive offered the guy i sold it to £5k more than he paid for it and he wont sell it back to me. :( :( :( :(

Surely with any decent car an MOT is simply the 40 quid fee and off you go? ;)

My sisters other half has wanted one since childhood. Owned it 2 months and is getting rid of it, before I got to drive it :(

I've only owned 2 cars, can't wait to get rid of my current one :p

Shush you :p

It also went in to have the alternator and brake pads/discs changed. The old alty got knackered when the mechanic tightened up the belt too much... and it wasn't going to pass the MOT on the pads and discs that were there.

For the MOT, it just needed a suspension bush and a bit of welding :( I'd seen the rust when I bought it but didn't bother to treat it. I guess it just got worse.

My little pug 306. It was only a 1.6 but the damn thing stuck to the road a lot better than my current car and was so much fun to drive. Really wish I hadn't sold it now, if I had kept it and spent money on making look better I'd be as happy as a pig in poo.

Only 2 I really regret selling.....

Mk2 Astra 16v (one of the first ones.....) few mods, was fast as a fast thing :D
Manta GTE - in gold, lowered, but otherwise std and handled lovely

My Dad and I built a Westfield XTR2 which I regret selling. It was by no means practical or comfortable but it was just a hoot to drive.

Unfortunately at the time I didn't have the cash to buy Dad's share of it. I'll have to look for some piccys when I get home.

I really regret selling my Defender 90. It was rubbish on fuel, a real boneshaker, but I miss it so much.

That 7 of the OP's is beautiful. I want one so badly!!!!

I was almost more excited about the kit for the car turning up than I was about losing my virginity - almost !

Building it was enourmous fun, every part brand new, everything fitted exactly, came in from the garage with hands cleaner than when I went out !

Build diary from way back when the interweb was young (1993!) is at:

For anyone who is interested....
