Hey guys.

I saw recently a post about carsoft for BMWs. I'd like to know a bit more about it. Can it be used to set up the keys for personal preferences, such as seat and mirror positions, auto lock of the doors when setting off etc?

Can it set values in the ECU as well as read them?

it can set the drive-off locking, but it is incredibly annoying. It can also set selective locking, but that's about it

a lot of the chinese cables have to be altered before they'll work properly too.

Carsoft cannot set drive off locking properly. Infact you can't really set anything bar the clock being in 24 or 12 hour form, it's really a tool for diagnosis only.

i set drive-off locking ok on mine, but drive off locking is annoying. Might try selective locking.

Also, i'm sure you can set 24/12 hour format from the dash.

I've had a carsoft setup and found it to be rather useless except for resetting service lights. Some models it allows you to set the locking features, but not all, and I found mine to be quite iffy with it detecting all modules all the time.
