bit of a stupid question

BUT....

are most cases compatable with most motherboards?

as i am looking at upgrading a PC and would like to reuse the case i would be purchasing a new motherboard as want to update everything inc the CPU.

summary: sister bought a shocking PC from the purple shirt brigade thanks to thier "expert" advice and wont even play any games she wants to (sims), so im upgarding it for her and wonder if i can use the case

youll have to delete the name of shop, people generally just refer to them as the purple shirt brigade on here, lol
Re cases, that one may not as they tend to do their own weird thing, but most cases on here will, theres a standard compatibility system called ATX, this has 3 sub categories mATX (micro) being smallest, normal ATX and eATX (extended) being biggest
These are backwards compatible so you can put a mATX mobo in a normal ATX case, but not vice versa, bigger board in smaller case wont fit
Hope that helps
