Case cooling for 290

I wonder if anything really beats the Cooler Master HAF X for cooling these days.

In the latest reviews bit-tech have done for cases they dont have the SilverStone FT02R-W, CM HAF X or Xigmatek Elysium on the performance listings. Seems abit dumb considering they were the best 3 cases for GPU cooling.

What's everyones opinion on the 'Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 High Airflow ATX Cube' case? I'd like one with good airflow for reference cards but also a case that keeps dust out. The 600T has numerous holes and gaps.

The Carbide is an excellent case - Ive not noticed a huge build up of dust in mine, and my build has been up since Nov last year.

You could have come and had a look Matt, noticed your in Norwich too :-)

Nice 1 :)

Will be interesting to see what you think of it.

It looks like its built for cooling reference blowers in crossfire.

Lol yeah good point Vinny. :D

Impulse buying, you can't beat it. Didn't even bother to measure how much room ill have on my desk. :p

Only small issue ive had with mine (Ive actually had two of these) - First one arrived with badly scratched side panel, but Corsair sent me another panel. The top Grill rattles like mad, which ive also got a replacement for.

Impluse buying - You will be happy with it, im sure ;)

Thanks. Can you just confirm, is it 13 inches wide? If so it will fit nicely with room to spare.

Was hoping Corsair would have released an optional side panel with a decent side fan for the Carbide 540.

I was going to keep mine and attempt to mod the panel, but knowing my luck I would have probally cracked it.

? Antec 620 was only 30 and the bracket 10

I'd be interested in setting this up for one of my cards. I need some additional cooling for my top card, and a little less noise wouldn't go amiss but I don't want to go all out expensive watercooling solution, as I don't want to commit that much to the card.

Can you point me towards the bracket you are using? I've never really tampered with coolers on cards but I have an Antec Kuhler 920 on my CPU at the moment.

EDIT: Actually a little research and I am guessing you are talking about the NZXT Kraken G10? Unfortunately out of stock everywhere, are there any alternatives? Does it stand much taller than the 290 non-reference 2 slot coolers?

Either way I'll check my case when I get a chance to see what kind of space I can afford.

Cheers. I'm edging towards it. I suppose i could use a fan controller though? That would solve it. Looking at the case though, where would it go? :D

My friend has one and just downvolts the fans to 7v. Not sure how it would effect the cooling performance though.
