Case/CPU / Motherboard replacement

So...what I thought was a simple and exciting Sapphire 9070xt upgrade seems to have quickly spiralled into a dead motherboard / CPU which is failing to boot up.

The current PC is pretty much the ship of Theseus at the moment, so I'm not exactly surprised. The 9 year old case is pretty warped from taking it apart and moving house so many times. So I think it's time to start afresh with a brand new build with the GPU that's still in its box

So, I probably need Case (black), Motherboard, CPU, coolers and power supply. For general gaming and budget is ~£1000

The old pc won't go to waste, I'll recover the leftover components that are working and rebuild the ship of Theseus next year.

What resolution are you planning on playing at, and are there any particular games you tend to focus on such as CoD or BF?

But it's actually possible its bios
Can't support such a new card
Only had that happen to me once a long while ago
Drove me crazy trying to figure why it wouldn't display

I prefer a big tower please, and I don't need the SSD.

Also as a side question, how much would the budget need to increase to look into water cooling?

Or custom watercooling cpu and gpu?
A thermalright aio is pretty cheap
Custom watercooling is very expensive nowadays
Even second hand parts aren't that cheap

This should fit the bill, changed the PSU as the edge tends to be best used in dual chamber PC's, the case is easily changed if it's not to your liking but it is decent value.

Edit: WC related, a good AiO can be had from Thermalright for £50, a better one can be had in the form of the Arctic Freezer III range for around £80-100, there aren't any other AiO's on the market I'd personally bother with.

A custom set up could run a good few hundred, but that area is more @Mcnumpty2323's forte.

Honestly, the 9800X3D will run just fine on a good air cooler such as the one linked.

If you do opt for an AiO it'll be largely an aesthetic choice, that said go for a 360mm model as hilariously many of the smaller get out performed by traditional air coolers. One thing to note about the aforementioned Arctic Freezer III is that the series has thicker radiators than most AiO's so be sure to check it fits whichever case you aim for.

The fewer points of failure is always
The best idea whenever possible
Air cooler is just a big lump of metal
Only point of failure is the fans
Which you can easily replace
An aio it's not just the pump there have been problems
With coolant gunking up the cold plate etc too

Believe Tom's hardware tested the pretor
Actually it's royal pretor
I forgot the royal bit in the name
They tested it on a 9950X3D with great results
There will be plenty other reviews out there of it as well
Its more future proof than the peerless assassin
Not that the peerless assassin is bad at all
Just the pretor is even better

does it work when the old gpu is placed back in?
if so, may well just need a bios update on the mobo (if not done so already)

MSI B550 Tomahawk
5600x
6800XT
Corsair rmx 750w power supply

The 6800xt was becoming faulty and getting black screen crashes at high end gaming which necessitated the upgrade to the 9070xt but it still functions. But I've spent most of the day fault finding with both GPUs, resetting BIOS, resetting CMOS, reseating all the power cables, stripping everything back etc and I've still been unable to get it to post. It still shows a red CPU error light on the motherboard and no display.

ooof. that's still a pretty decent system to go suddenly kaput like that
the only think i can think of is to (1) disassemble the whole system and try it outside of the case, and (2) to reseat the cpu and see if that works
