just got my NZXT phantom:D

can anyone recommend some case fans. there's plenty of room for the following:

1x 140mm
2x 200/230mm
and a couple of 120mm

i don't need them all, but will probably get at least one. I've heard the fractals are very good(silence is golden:))

cheers guys

Noiseblocker 120 and 140mm can't really be beaten for case fans.

No idea about the big 'uns, only had NZXT ones before which are horrifically loud.

You may aswell get the matching ones from NZXT as they supposed to perform good.

What's the case like? quiet? what's your cpu/gfx card temps idle and load?

5850- idle - 27
5850 - 1 hour of BC2 - 52

phenom ii 965 be oc'd to 4 ghz

idle - 29
Not been under load yet, was in bios for about 20 mins and it was around 38.

system temps are 27.

When i say idle, it's not totally, i am browsing and downloading something.

case is very nice. i have found it quiet so far, except there is a kind of vibrating noise which i think sounds like it's coming form the PSU, which is mounted on rubber feet which is supposed to cancel it, so it might not be the PSU.
it's not annoying me atm, but it's on my radar;)

got a 200mm NZXT fan at the top, and can barely hear it at top whack tbh

not many NZXT fan's about tbh.
all of the connections for the fan controller are 3-pin, but i have 2 apaches which have 4-pin connectors. are there any converters. Again, google hasn't really thrown anything up.

Apaches have a short cord as well, so will not reach the mobo from the front of the case!
great fans though, so i would like to keep them.

Never seem to be able to find any aftermarket coolers for the 4770 :( many for various other 4xxx series cards, but nothing specifically specifies the 4770 - don't want to buy something and then find it doesn't fit lol

...I'll just stick to the stock, noisy, lame cooler :( lol

Back to the case fans... I find the coolermaster 200mm fans pretty good, they move plenty of air and are pretty quiet even at full speed

i reckon i'm gonna put in a another 200/230mm fan at the top, and i need one for the front intake.

what do we think of these

Or any better sugeestions?
would have liked a blue LED, but can't have everything.

i really would like to re-use my apache's. is there some way i can connect themto the fan controller's 3-pin connections?
must be surely...

Can't find many NZXT fans around

I bought NXZT fans for my phantom a 140mm for the front, a 200mm for the top. Don't get that Bitfenix fan for the top it won't fit, you would have to make new holes for it. You could use it for a side fan if you have a tall heatsink though as it's only 20mm deep instead of NZXT fan which is 30mm and doesn't allow a heatsink of more than 150mm to fit with it. I used a Xigmatek 200mm fan for my side fan and I should have 2mm between that and my NH-D14 when it arrives but again you will have to either make new holes for any other fan as NZXT fans are 192mm. I just used zip ties though :)

I also have some Apaches I was going to use as floor intake fans and have been trying to find a 4 pin to 3 pin fan adapter, but no luck as yet, I think you can plug them straight into the 3 pin headers on the motherboard but would rather use the fan controller if possible.

cheers thunder, think i will hunt around for some NZXT fans. There are a few around, but they are pretty expensive, i would say.
I only have the Arctic Freezer 7, so it doesn't really take up much room.

No problem, I got the 140mm for £7.92 and the 200mm for £12.24. If you go to NZXT website and look for UK stockists I got them from 4th one down :)

Although if you phone NZXT they will give you them for erm a LOT cheaper.

Their customer support is excellent, one of my LED lights was not working, I emailed but after a week - no reply. Called the number, and they said they would send me a new fan controller, few days later I got new fan controller, 1 x 200mm LED fan, 1 x 140mm fan + the NZXT rope lights :D The only reason they didn't reply to my email was because they were all at CeBit btw and the LED light would have worked had I had a fan plugged in doh, thought they were all supposed to be lit regardless.
