Case fans not working on new build

Hi guys,

Built my first PC today. All went well, bar having to move one of the pre-installed case fans so I could fit my Corsair H55 cooler.

Everything's working fine, except the case fans. I've plugged them into the mobo (on the sys fan points) but they're not spinning when the PC is on. They are the fans supplied with the Rajintek Agos case - one 120mm intake and one 120mm exhaust, plugged into a Gigabyte Z97 gaming 3 motherboard.

Do I need to fiddle with anything in the BIOS to get them to work?

If it makes any difference, the fans have 3 sockets on their plug, going onto a four pronged output on the mobo (but from what I've read that shouldn't make any difference?)

Thanks in advance.

Adam

As long as you have lined up the 3 pins with the 4 pin socket all should be good, could be that the fan profile is @ silent or low.

If you look at the SYS_FAN1 etc you should see a guide slot on the left hand side at the bottom. This will allow you to align the 3 pin plug for the fans correctly.

From the manual:

"3/4) CPU_FAN/SYS_FAN1/SYS_FAN2/SYS_FAN3 (Fan Headers)
All fan headers on this motherboard are 4-pin. Most fan headers possess a foolproof insertion design.
When connecting a fan cable, be sure to connect it in the correct orientation (the black connector wire
is the ground wire). The motherboard supports CPU fan speed control, which requires the use of a CPU
fan with fan speed control design. For optimum heat dissipation, it is recommended that a system fan be
installed inside the chassis."

In the bios you should see "MIT" as a header, under this you should see the fan speed settings near the bottom:

1st System Fan Speed Control (SYS_FAN1 Connector)
Allows you to determine whether to enable the fan speed control function and adjust the fan speed.
Normal Allows the fan to run at different speeds according to the system temperature. You can
adjust the fan speed with EasyTune based on your system requirements. (Default)
Silent Allows the fan to run at slow speeds.
Manual Allows you to control the fan speed under the Fan Speed Percentage item.
Full Speed Allows the fan to run at full speeds.

Here is the link to the Manual if you have not opened the one that came with the motherboard :)

Managed to fix... I'd simply put the plug onto the wrong pins. I had read the manual (promise!) but clearly not read that bit well enough.

Thanks for the help.
