hi my new case has a 120mm space in the side pannel direct;y above the cpu cooler should i put in a fan or will this make no difference to temps? confused as some people say it will disterb the air flow through the case

case has 1 140mm fan in fromt and 1 120mm fan in rear stock cpu cooler

Can't say it would affect the airflow in your case, other than increase it which is always a good thing. Do you have air filters for all your intakes? If not, you might want to add a filters or you'll find your case filling up with dust very quickly and clogging up your CPU and GPU cooler!

The problem with case fans on the side of the case is that it creates a much more complicated air flow path which is more likely to produce votexes. These little pockets of air can get hotter than one might like and might cause issues.

Frankly though Thermodynamics are too bloody complex for OCUK theory - measure temps before, wack in a couple of side fans and see if the temps go down.
