Right

I need a new case - my aim is to get my system as quiet as possible while maintaining good temps.

Most of the my system is listed in my Sig. I also have to fit 2 CD Drives, Fan controller and 4 HDD's.

Would prefer a Midi case but not sure if i can fit everything in so might need a Full Tower ??

Advise Please

Thanks

Your system is perfect for an Akasa Eclipse 62.

That is almost what I would consider the end of the thread, you will have to buy your own fans but that allows you to get the ones you like the most.

check out the Lian Li range tbh they are just the best or Akasa Eclipse 62

damn yewen always beats everyone to it

Coolermaster Stacker 810? :p
You still have plenty of space left over, if you want more hard drives. Total of 11 (actually 12 but front panel takes 1) minus your 2 for optical drives, 3 for the hard drives, 1 for the fan controller. That still leaves 5.

The 810 or the original stacker are also a possibility, just a little on the expensive side though.

Just for the love of the case gods avoid the 830 like the plague.

No it's not, add two 12cm case fans to the Eclipse and the Eclipse is £20 more!

Not forgetting the Stacker has one 4-in-1 module, with a fan. Rear has two 12cm and 8cm top.

I  cannot decide between the akasa eclipse or antec p180
not sure if the antec is cooler logic says yes....is the eclipse fan club
based upon watercooling people because of the room.I see a lot of big ups
to the eclipse but for air cooling is it better than the antec p180 ?.
My indecision of my new case thereof.

The P180 is the case of choice for the silent/quiet pc obsessives.
Except its no quieter than any other case.

A case isn't what makes the noise, its the components inside it.

Eclipse here. Mines near silent, got Akasa Ambers front and back @ 5v, and the Zalman 9500 / VF900's also at 5v except when gaming.

Temps are good. :)

ok eclipse it is then only concern was the hard drives being in the way
of the front fan and nowhere else to fit 2 hard drives and cool them properly

Having drives in the front is fine!
Don't worry about it. Drives stay nice and cool without effecting the rest of the case.

The front fan doesn't cool anything directly except the drives, it just provides airflow and its the movement of air that keeps the majority of things cool.

That's right, because the design & construction have no effect on component sound transmission, case resonance, moving air noise and a host of other factors

Ok put a noisy fan in a Antec P180 and tell me its still quiet. :o

My point was that if you put loud components in a case its going to be loud, the choice of components within a case is far, far more important than the choice of the case when it comes to noise.

The p180 is no quieter than any other case. It is however very cramped and over engineered and has some nasty design flaws. The Eclipse62 or PC-7 would be better choices.
