Case noise

This will be different but it is an issue my NZXT Phantom 410 case makes a tick noise when it warms up and cools down, the cooling down one can happen a few times in the space of a few hours after the computer is turned off.
The problem is that my neighbours can hear this noise and it bothers them even though I have moved the PC as far away from them as possible.

Is there anything that I can do to minimise this noise?

Honestly, I was as surprised as you. They've been making retaliation noises each time it happens for around 3 months now so its not a coincidence either.

Haha I would record it for you but it happens really randomly and I could be there for 2 - 3 hours. It's pretty loud sort of like hitting a radiator with something metal, type of loud if that made sense.

Sounds like my oven when a cold tray heats up quickly, is it a metal side panel causing the sound? (No idea how you could stop it :()
 
This is a common issue with my 600T as well, relating to the plastics expanding/contracting as the temperature of the components change. Try tightening up the screws affixing the perspex window to the panel. :)

Well I live in a detached house, so it would have to be incredibly loud for them to even notice, but it was louder than you may think until I tightened all of the screws up. Certainly loud enough to make me almost jump out of my skin the first time it did it. :rolleyes:
 
Well you do learn something new everyday. I'll be sure to remember this if I ever encounter some earth shattering noises.
To the OP though, have you tried bread boarding you system?
 
Thanks for the replies. I think it is the metal side panels as the sound is metallic. Should I tighten the screws of the side panels? but I'm not sure if that will help and what is bread boarding?

Running the motherboard with its components out of the case.
Definitely try tightening the side panel. No harm in doing so.
 
Tighten the screws on the inside of the side panel that affix the perspex window to the metal of the side panel :)
 
The window doesn't have any screws but it has hooks that attach it to the side panel. Do you guys have any other suggestions in case tightening the side panel screws doesn't work? I'm thinking of changing case or just completely selling it :(
 
Hmmm that tightening the screw method may have worked the case made a sound while playing BF3 but it was different than normal and the sound was much quieter.
 
You see your gpu outputs? It's most likely fitted into 2 slots. When there isn't anything there, there are brackets that are screwed in or off. Tighten all of those to make sure they're not making the noises as well.
