hi,

i have a current system:

Case: Wizard case with a 20cm side fan which is pants imo

MotherBoard: Asus M3N78 Pro NVIDIA 8300 SLi (Socket AM2+)

Ram: Kingston 800 MHz not sure exact one

CPU: AMD Phenom 9950 Black Edition 2.60GHz stock heat shink

PowerSupply: Ocz Stealth X Stream 600W

Graphics card: 9800GTX + DK soon to be replaced with 4870HD

dvd Drive: not important

Hard drive: very old SATA II drive running at 5200 RPM soon to be replaced with a Samsung SpinPoint F1 1TB

looking for a silent case with very good cooling and air flow ( don't mind water cooling or gas cooling) that won't make my room look like a rave or a disco when i turn the light off.

looking to spend a around 100-150 pounds, if builtin gas or water cooling looking at 200-400 pounds

any reccomendation

thanks in advance :) planning on being one of the last cases i buy till i finish uni

For easy silent cases without any modding - look to antec. But they make a few dodgy models (like some Sonata variants). Personally I love the Solo - P150 but you'll have trouble squeezing the 9800gtx in (4870 is peachy and its not hard to cut a tiny notch in ur drive cage if you insist on nvidias over-sized jumbo cards.

Apart from the Solo, the P182/P180 is nicer for bigger systems and nsk3480 is nice if you like Micro-Atx systems. (I *think* that mobo is uATX?)

Hope that helps.

I've done a lot of research on cases and the best I have found in that price range is the Coolermaster HAF. The airflow is exceptional in that case and not only that it's pretty silent. Some people don't like the look and it IS a big case, but if you want excellent airflow and one of the quietest cases go for the HAF.

done some searching on it and its an ATX Form Factor 12 inch x 9.6 inch ( 30.5 cm x 24.4 cm ) , thanks for the feed back guys just taking a look at some of the suggestion, had a look at the Coolermaster RC-1000 Cosmos Silent looks okay but saw the highieght and weight and nearly fell off the chair in shock

Coolermaster HAF: it has the PSU at the bottom and does not have a seprate compartment for it won't the heat from the PSU just travel from the bottom of the case past the graphics card and processor generating more heat ?

Trust me heat wont be a problem with the HAF. Read some reviews on newegg!

was just wondering if the cable mangement on the Akasa Eclipse 62 Case was any good?

looks pritty nice any problems with installing Graphic card and big heats sinks i hope not the case looks and massive.

sorry to take so long to reply work doesnt like me spending to much time on OC :S

Cable management is as good as you make it, I have a GTX260 and there is a good 2 inches between it and the hard drives and my hard drives could move about an inch closer to the fron fan if I so desired.

I also have a Freezer pro 7 installed and there is again about a 3 inch gap between it and the side panel.

HUGE :)

sweet nice to know, i was actauly looking into getting the Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro to replace me stock heat sink as well the stock one is pants and is a bit on the loud side when its under a load of pressure.

(well not quite that loud but still)

sorry to ask a question within a question, but do you know if there is any good PCI fans ( simular to the ram Fans you can get) just to keep the heat lower on the graphics card?

hate to say i do not really like the concept of the Antec cases specailly as the slot for the power supply is bottom mount i dont understand why they would make like that as the heat would rise through all your other compnents to leave the case or am i missing somthing there.

decent psus dont get very hot, and 90% of the heat they do generate is pumped out the back anyway. trust us, its not an issue. cable length would be though, that is something you have to consider

Another vote for the eclipse 62, massive amount of space inside. few pics to give you an idea.

With TRUE cpu cooler and 8800gts (replaced with gtx280 and still room to spare)
