Case recommendations

Thought the Obsidian 650D was Ok on air or did i miss the memo

Fractal Design XL, HAF X and Xigmatek Elysium (released yet?) may be worth a gander at

Had a good look at the Fractal XL last night, the only issue I have with this is that my 2nd gfx card will be tight up to the shelf above the PSU, looked great other than that.

The 650D appears to tick all the right boxes but people saying its not good for air cooling. To be fair im not trying to overclock anything much (ive flashed the cards but thats it) just want to stop everything cooking inside the case as it currently is and have it all nice and tidy with room for other bits.

Sad as it sounds the silver interior is a deal breaker :D

I think its a toss up between the 650D and Fractal XL

Is the shelf above the psu removable in the Fractal case?

The fans that come with either of the above, are they quiet or would it be worth replacing for an alternative (if so any recommendations?)

Thanks for all the help so far, much appreciated lads :)

Yep, thats my only complaint as well, hence im going to give the interior of mine a colour change.

I think the missus would hurt me in horrible ways if I spent that on a case :D

even more confused now haha, so the lian li's are miles better than the 2 I was considering? looking at nearly £70 or more over which im struggling to justify. why is this so difficult :p

Just to make the decision that much harder... have some case tidying pr0n ;)

You can remove a section above the PSU which would open up cooling to your 2nd GFX card.

^Such a beautiful case. Get one if you can afford it.

Still, if you want to spend less, the CM 690-II will do you absolutely fine.

Lian li's are so dated now rattly thin aluminium minimal cable management and still using 120mm intakes I'd get the cooler master 840 or haf x if the looks don't bother you.

Does look nice but that silver :p, wish id never decided I needed a new case haha!

re: last comment - Looks are important, dont want something that looks like a spaceship with lights n god knows what else, just something clean, understated :)

The A70/71F both feature dual 140mm intakes, exhausts are 120's, tbh ive never had rattling problems, (one reason i changed from my eclipse 62). The cm 840 has a lot of space but im not that keen on the look of it. The haf x is great for air cooling, but again not very pretty.

+1 I have the FT01B, very good case airflow for cooling, positve air pressure also helps keep the dust at bay, you can take the top HD bay out if GPU's get any bigger, easy to work on + cable management and its curved front looks good. The only thing thats a spoils it is the interior is not sprayed black, the top fan is easy to clean, you just unscrew the two screws that stop it from moving forward. Then slide the fan forward and it drops down, clean and put it back into place ,slide it back, replace screws, sorted.

Not considering ythe HAF-X Black inside like you want, air cooling is porbably one of the best out there! And TBH ive not found it to be any louder than the gfx card fan.

if you are thinking corsair 800D... I wouldn't unless you want to watercool... for Air cooling the case isn't that great, and its absoultely massive... for Water cooling though, its ace

The windowed ft01b is black inside I own one but wouldn't recommend it at the cost I'd rather go for the cheaper corsair 650D.

Yea not hating on lian li btw I love em just wish they would up their game in terms of cable management thicker alu and introducing cases with 200mm front intake etc.
The lian li is a solid choice but come on it should be £145 ish like it was a while back.

ive been researching a new case too, the problem i have is most is has either TOP build quality (lian li), or GREAT cable management (corsiar, fractal - i hate plastic!), but none both, yet.

however, the new lian li pc-z70 looks amazing, classic lian li quality, with modern cable management. going to see what thats like when its out, but dont know release date... :(

lian li pc-z70 will probably come out at around £200 knowing lian li.
I'd get the cooler master 840 corsair 650d or the lian li setter has.

Yea sorry setter didn't realise this case had dual 140mm front spaces not up to speed thought they still ran 120's.
