Case recommendations

Thanks mate, so what is the biggest improvement you've found in the 750D compared to the 550D?

I haven’t owned a 550D but did a lot of research on cases before getting the 750D.

The case is the perfect size for me - It can accommodate a 360mm rad (top) and 280mm rad (front) to allow for excellent water cooling. I currently use air cooling so don’t make use of that but the removable 3.5" drive bays allow for uninterrupted air flow through to my 7990 which needs the air. My temps are always good for Case, CPU and GPU even under heavy load (and I live in Australia).

The vertically mounted SSD slots are genius design and look great through the window. The wires can be completely hidden behind the motherboard tray.

3 x 5.25" drive bays is a massive win for me as cases of the 750D size always have 4+ which takes up so much room and let’s face it most of us don’t even have a DVD drive installed let alone multiple optical drives.

The magnetic dust filters and pop off front are brilliant making cleaning really easy.

The aluminium and steel finish all over make the case look fantastic and I love the tinted window too!

I also love the suble feet built into the fron and back of the case to lift it off the floor/desk to allow for good airflow through the bottom of the case as I do make use of the two bottom fan spots.

Some pictures below of my build.

Is it weird that I could tell you were in Australia because of your mug? Haha. I'm currently whipping around your country in a van and have the exact same ones.

On a related note that case looks ideals for the op. I to like the ssd mounting, so clean.

HAHA that is so funny, yeah they are like 80c each from Kmart, such good mugs though. That's awesome where abouts are you currently, I'm originally from England but moved over here two years ago. You having a wicked time?

Yeah the SSD drives look great and they really are so tidy!

demon, thank you for the pictures, and review :)

i have narrowed my choice down between the ronin and the 750D

my options are leaning towards the ronin, because of the cover that hides the psu, hdds etc etc.
but on the other hand there is the 750D because of the build quality, and the space, and good air flow, and the option for good watercooling if i ever go that route (which i will be sometime)

my god this is hard :(

thanks guys, for all the help :)

:D, thats all good for you (and others), but i don't own a SSD :p. i cant justify the money for them to gain a few seconds on loading times :), but its everyone to there own!

Set up my 750D and all I can say is WOW. The case a joy to work with and I've seen my cpu temps lowered by almost 10c and my GTX 670's are now idling at 30-35c (they were idling at about 45-50 in my 550D). The case is more than big enough to cater for two GFX cards, in fact they look small in comparison inside this case. Overall I'm very happy with this upgrade.

As a complete side note I must say that having an SSD is probably the best upgrade I've made in the last decade.

It's not just boot up times, the whole system becomes lightning fast. They are not really an expensive upgrade now either. Once you have installed your OS and your applications onto it you just use your existing mechanical drive for all your media, documents, steam etc.

Also great to hear all the love for the 750D here too. Corsair really have hit the nail on the head with this case, and as mentioned previously my temps have dropped substantially too.

ok, you guys have convinced me to go for the 750D :)

just one questions, the removable dust guard on top.. can that be changed for a metal version ?
the reason im asking is because i have a kitten!, and hes a little **** and loves to sharpen his claws on the vents/mesh on my phantom.. and i know for a fact that after 2 days there will be nothing left of that guard on the top of the 750D lol

so.. can it be changed ?.. if not, think i might have to make a clear version from perspex :(

thanks guys for all the help :)

It is metal mate, its thing enough to be flexible. I don't think the cat will tear it to shreds but might scratch the paint off.

is it ?, i thought it was like a net ?.. like tights sort of material.

well if its metal, i guess it should be ok.

still might make a perspex replacement though just to be on the safe side! lol

cheers too tall

I am sure you will not regret it. I was not a Corsair fanboy, but this case will probably make me one :D
