Cash Machine | Hole in the wall question.

£300 on halifax card using the machine and £1200 over the counter (which I reckon is less secure cos it's not like the check anything!).
you have to be able to copy a sig to do that. if your using a cash machine or chip and pin its just 4 numbers.. what a stupid idea i think that is..

and i can only get 600 at small branches and 1200 at main.

I was told by a counter person in HSBC that mine was £1,000 in one hit, but I could do this as many times as I wanted, till my account was empty!!!...

But with my Account I couldn't even do that once! :(

i couldnt even do that today.. it would only let me have that £250 and i re-inserted and it just chucked my card back out

Are you sure you had the funds in your account for £300? :p.

You can take more than that out if you find two machines side by side that are run by two different banks. Take the load from one, then bouce over to the other, and repeat.

Doesnt always work though. Guess it depends on the cash mashine?

Normally £300ish, some accounts will allow more (My First Direct allows £500).. business debit cards normally allow £700+

How much do cash machines usually hold? ..and how heavy are they?

Depends how busy the machine is, and when it was last filled. Average where I live is around £120K when just filled (remote sites filled by security company). Branch machines often carry less during quiet periods.

2 strong men with a sack barrow can move a full-size through-the-wall ATM.

I went into Nationwide the other day and they told me I could I only withdraw £1000 over the counter WTF! They told me I could also withdraw £500 from the ATM but that I had to do that first, so I couldn't get £1000 from the counter then £500 from the ATM but I could do it there other way around. Where is the sense in that?

Couldn't you just imagine somone like Roman Abramovich at the cashpoint?

Funds in your account: £10,892,000,000,000
Funds available: £250

"Aw pish, I wanted another speedboat"

:D

/slightly off topic

I heard that if you enter your pin backwards that it notifies the police that you are being robbered! Anyone know if thats true?

I'm going to say that's pretty unlikely, what if you had a symmetrical PIN, or all the same number? :p
