Arg!

In a nutshell, I took out a new contract on a cashback deal on 15th May this year and they sent me the paperwork straight away. The actual contract wasn't scheduled to start for a week, however, as it was a number port. They said that on the 22nd my old contract would cease and I should then put the new SIM in the new handset and it would fire up. Sure enough on the 22nd my old phone died and and I fired up the new one successfully.

Now I've submitted a cashback claim at the end of the month window (I know I should have done it earlier - first time I've forgotten) and basically the paperwork got to them after the 15th of the month but before the 22nd. They're claiming that my contract runs from the 15th as that's when I placed the order yet the service wasn't up and running for a week from that date! To rub salt in I actually called them just before sending the claim off to check when the contract started and the guy said the 26th!!

I know my chances of getting them to pay up are remote but is there any way of proving that the service didn't start until the 22nd. All the paperwork I have has the order date of 15th on it.

With most networks the phone would have started straight away but with a temporary number, so the contract starts immediately.

Hmm, no way of knowing if that was the case but I was specifically told the phone wouldn't become "live" until the 22nd.

Sounds like I've just been misinformed but I'll stand no chance of convincing them of that I fear. Ho hum.
