David Coulthard believes the new Castrol Rankings system will show who is the best racing driver in the world, across all the major categories of motorsport.

The former grand prix driver, who launched Castrol Rankings, which are powered by AUTOSPORT.com, at AUTOSPORT International this morning, explained that the new system will accurately compare the performances of more than 2000 drivers.

...Because he's the greatest :)

Erm, he's been spanked by every team-mate he's ever had, and his world title will always forever be tainted by its association with massive cheat Ross Brawn, who was the CHEATING Technical Director at both the CHEATING Ferrari and CHEATING Benetton teams.

Yes, if Ferrari were cheats, and Benetton were cheats, everything Brawn will ever touch in motorsport is suspect, especially his personally owned team.

Anyway, the lamb Hamilton is going to devour Mutton. Raw. You'll all be weeping tears for that fake king by mid-season, oh Hell yes.

Bit harsh. In his first couple of seasons he had vastly more experienced team mates. He did fine though after joining BAR. No matter what he achieves though, there will always be some that will keep knocking him. Its just the British thing to do I guess.

Have you even read how it works? Its weighted on series and performance across 12 months. F1 is pinacle of motorsport, so it makes sence being consistently good for the 12 months in the top series would put you at the top. Some guy who wins every race in his local kartin championship with mates from the pub wouldnt be comparible to an F1 driver.

But yes, it does seem like winning the F1 championship is going to stick you at number 1....

Button has been one of the most consistent drivers of the last 10 years really, just overshadowed by better teams. It's unfair to take away 2009 from him and 2010 will be the real test as the top teams should be a lot more competative and he's got a brilliant team mate to work with.

Loving that reply.

you are obviously forgetting Villeneave (a former F1 champion - and Cart champ if I remember correctly), who got spanked by Button in his own team!!!

Maybe check your facts before looking like a mupppet:rolleyes:

2nd half of buttons season was bad so how can he be top, if he is only there because he is f1 champ how does any driver in a different type get up there.
Just give him credit for Brazil - I think that race craft deserves utmost respect, considering the amount of sublime overtaking moves he made in one race (even Brundle and other pro's have said the same)

2nd half of the season wasnt helped by a comparatively terrible car that Brawn decided not to develope further - but of course thats irrelevant isnt it
